Sincere prayer for the cessation of the war between brothers and sisters and for peace in Ukraine.

Regarding the dramatic events in Ukraine, His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durres, and all Albania, having called upon the faithful and upon every person of good will to intensify their prayer for peace, stressed the following:

“Deep pain and sorrow floods the souls of people, when the dialogue for peace is broken and the war between brothers and sisters begins through the monologue of the violence of the powerful; resulting in victims, normally the innocent, the defenseless, and the waves of refugees.

The Christian conscience condemns all assaults of violence, persistently urging everyone, to the best of their ability, to contribute to peacemaking and reconciliation in the afflicted Ukraine and throughout the world.

The words of Christ remain our steadfast principle: ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.’”
