For the past several months, couples and families have been meeting at the premises of the Student Center of the Orthodox Church in Tirana. Couples that had a connection with the Student Center when they were students have been brought to these meetings by the need to be together, to grow in their faith and to share their everyday life experiences. Their friendships with other members of the community of the Church have expanded the participation in these monthly meetings. The aim of this activity is for couples to build up and strengthen each other, as well as to be inspired to serve other members of the community.

On Sunday, March 4, the fourth meeting was held, which brought together eleven couples, and many of them also brought their children. This meeting was focused on Lent and its benefit to the family. The first part of the meeting was led by Bishop of Kruja, His Grace Andoni, who reminded the couples once again that the purpose of the Lenten period is for a return to God, for personal reflection and for making positive decisions. Also, he emphasized the teachings of the Fathers of the Church, who have taught us the spiritual benefit of Lent. “The example of love, of repentance and devotion to God, is the best example that we can give to each other, but also to our children” – he underlined.

Next the Bishop of Bylisi, His Grace Asti, reminded the participants that Lent is a time for thinking also about our brothers in Christ. “We should never forget that we must be the first to offer our hospitality to everyone” – he emphasized.

Later, the meeting continued with a general discussion in which the participants shared their own personal and inspiring experiences and thoughts about the meaning of the Paschal Lent. This warm atmosphere was dominated by the harmony and joy of being together. Increasing our friendship leads us to share the joys and visions that we have for the future, serving the mission of the Church. The free time at the end of the meeting created more time for fellowship and sharing.
