Tirana, January 5, 2026 – The Presidency Board of the Interfaith Council of Albania (KNFSH) held on Monday, January 5, 2026, its first meeting of the year 2026.
The meeting held at the premises of the World Headquarters of the Bektashi was attended by: H. Bujar Spahiu, Chairman of the Muslim Community of Albania; His Beatitude Joannes, Archbishop of Tirana and all Albania, Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania; Msgr. Gjergj Meta, President of the Episcopal Conference of Albania; H. Dede Edmond Brahimaj, World Leader of the Bektashi World Headquarters; and Pastor Erion Sylari, Chairman of the Evangelical Brotherhood of Albania.
The meeting was first opened by the host Haxhi Dede Edmond Brahimaj, who welcomed the Board. Then Msgr. Gjergj Meta, acting chairman of KNFSH, based on the statute of the Interfaith Council of Albania and the rotation approved by the Presidency Board, handed over the duties to the World Leader of the Bektashi, Haxhi Dede Edmond Brahimaj, who will chair the Presidency Board for the period January 1, 2026 – January 1, 2027.
Following the agenda, the General Secretary of KNFSH, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Genti Kruja presented the final phase of the Strategic Plan of KNFSH, drafted by the working group for the period 2026-2028. The Plan defines the main orientations of the Interfaith Council’s activities for the next three years, focusing on strengthening interfaith dialogue, promoting peaceful coexistence through education with universal values, as well as increasing the role of youth and women in society. After review and discussions, the Strategic Plan was unanimously approved by the Presidency Board, composed of the leaders of the five religious communities.
Then Attorney Sheldiana Jano Agaraj presented the financial activity and afterwards the Board approved the budget for the year 2026, which will serve to support the activities and projects planned within the framework of the implementation of the Strategic Plan.
During the meeting, discussions and proposals were held by members of the Presidency Board on current social issues and the role of religious communities in addressing social, educational and cultural challenges.
In conclusion, the decisions taken were signed and other issues of interest to the activity and further commitment of the Interfaith Council of Albania in service of dialogue, harmony and interfaith coexistence in the country were addressed.
