Declaration of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania
Regarding the legal recognition of homosexual unions and placing them on the same level as marriage, the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania declares the following:
It is well known that perpetuation of humanity has been based on the existence of two sexes and of their union. No culture, religion or system of laws (Solon, Plato, etc.) has ever institutionalized homosexual cohabitation and considered it a marriage. The unnatural does not become natural by legal decrees. On the contrary, such a law offends creation and does not refer to social progress, but goes against the natural order.
The Church must clearly highlight the meaning and value of marriage, the importance of family and the birth of children in accordance to its holy texts and very old tradition (as declared in the Holy Great Synod of the Orthodox Church in Crete in 2016)
