The Office of “Diakonia Agapes” of our Church, has begun the implementation of the project, “Institutional and Inclusive Practices for Strengthening the Roma Community in Shushicë, Elbasan”, to increase their integration and social inclusion rate. The project will be implemented with the support of the Open Society Foundation for Albania. It is to be conducted for a period of six months (July 1 to December 31, 2013).The project aims to strengthen the capacity of public employees in the municipality of Shushica, Elbasan, to ensure inclusive institutional practices and functionality for the Roma community of the area, within the effective implementation of the Action Plan of the Roma Decade (PVDR ), designed by the United Nations organization – Albania.
Through this project, “Diakonia Agapes” aims to help members of the Roma community to achive the social reality, the legal framework and their interaction with their local institutions. Within this focus will be the improvement of public services viewed in the perspective of the Action Plan of the Roma Decade (PVDR) – as well as the empowering of new members of the Gypsy community in the municipality of Shushica, through the recognition of human rights within the PVDR.
At the end of its implementation, it is expected that the interaction between public institutions and the municipality of Shushica and the Roma community of this region will have increased based on a joint action plan that will be drawn up.
