The festive atmosphere of Theophany and the Blessing of the Water in Tirana seemed even more special this year, 2013, because it was celebrated at the New “Resurrection of Christ” Cathedral. Hundreds of believers filled the cathedral early in the morning, but as often happens on the major feasts, over time they became thousands. The magnificent surroundings of the new cathedral faced this without problem.
The Divine Liturgy was conducted by His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios, assisted by the Bishop of Amantia, His Grace Nathaneil and by the Bishop of Bylisi, His Grace Asti, and other clergy. After the Divine Liturgy, the Service of the Blessing of the Water was conducted, prior to which His Beatitude Anastasios explained to the believers the order of the service and after that he spoke briefly on the meaning of this great feast, when all creation is honored and renewed, and the world receives new light. The first part of the service was conducted inside the cathedral and at the end of the service moved outside for the Blessing of Water and throwing of the cross in the reservoirs. Throughout the whole day thousands of believers took water to bless their families and homes.
