All of us have in our minds the 20-year effort of Archbishop Anastasios to build functional churches and churches close to the believers. And not only in the centers of the cities, but where the believers are. It is intended also in Tirana, with all the difficulties that presents the capital for finding places for this purpose.
A large Orthodox community has long existed in the suburb of Kombinat and in order to respond to its needs, in the absence of another space, was used the yard of the complex “Nazareth” to build their church. This church is close to the public cemeteries of Sharra, and in this way will create better opportunities for a commemorative service for Orthodox people that have past way.
The church is dedicated to All Saints and is of the style basilica with a dome and portico from three sides. The exaltation of the bells is made with a straight mural construction, with three windows where the bells are situated. Its total area is about 250 m2, with dome 12.5 meters in height. Hand-carved iconostasis and icons are made by the respective craftsmen of the complex “Nazareth”.
The church started to function on the Sunday of All Saints, on June 10, on the day that the church celebrates, with the service of the Opening of the Doors and with the first Divine Liturgy. These services were conducted by Archbishop Anastasios, assisted by the Bishop of Amantias, Nathanaili and other clergy. In his speech, Archbishop Anastasios stressed the importance of this day and thanked all those who contributed to its construction. He focused also on the meaning of the feast and the importance of the testimony of the saints of the Church, all of those who prayed and sacrificed for the preservation and advancement of religion.
The church will serve regularly, every Sunday and every feast will be Divine Liturgy, as well as all kinds of services.
