Ai lindi n\u00eb Jerusalem nga prind\u00ebr t\u00eb devotsh\u00ebm me origjin\u00eb persiane, t\u00eb cil\u00ebt ia kushtuan sh\u00ebrbes\u00ebs s\u00eb Zotit q\u00eb n\u00eb mosh\u00eb t\u00eb vog\u00ebl. Mori nj\u00eb arsim t\u00eb shk\u00eblqyer n\u00eb let\u00ebrsin\u00eb e lasht\u00eb greke dhe studioi n\u00eb thell\u00ebsi Et\u00ebrit e Kish\u00ebs. Patriarku i Jeruzalemit Theodhori e shuguroi lexues n\u00eb kish\u00ebn e Ngjalljes, ku u lidh mend\u00ebrisht me jet\u00ebn e lutjes. N\u00eb mosh\u00ebn nj\u00ebzet e pes\u00eb vje\u00e7are u nis p\u00ebr n\u00eb Manastirin e Agios Sava dhe jetoi atje p\u00ebr dymb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb vjet p\u00ebrpjekje t\u00eb v\u00ebshtira asketike. Patriarku Thomas, pas propozimit t\u00eb abatit, e nderoi me detyr\u00ebn e plakut p\u00ebr dhuratat e tij shpirt\u00ebrore. Pastaj Michael u t\u00ebrhoq n\u00eb nj\u00eb qeli t\u00eb vetmuar dhe u zhyt n\u00eb lutje dhe studim mendor. Pastaj v\u00ebllez\u00ebrit Theodhori dhe Theofanis mb\u00ebrrit\u00ebn pran\u00eb tij, p\u00ebr t\u00eb m\u00ebsuar teologjin\u00eb dhe tradit\u00ebn monastike. Papa i k\u00ebrkoi Patriarkut Thoma t\u00eb kontribuoj\u00eb n\u00eb konsolidimin e Ortodoksis\u00eb sipas tradit\u00ebs s\u00eb Et\u00ebrve t\u00eb Shenjt\u00eb. K\u00ebshtu Patriarku d\u00ebrgoi Mikaelin n\u00eb Per\u00ebndim dhe n\u00eb Kostandinopoj\u00eb s\u00eb bashku me Teodorin, Theofanin dhe shoq\u00ebrues t\u00eb tjer\u00eb. Ata i d\u00ebrguan letra perandorit ikonoklastik Leo Armenit, duke i k\u00ebrkuar t\u00eb ndalonte persekutimet kund\u00ebr besimit t\u00eb v\u00ebrtet\u00eb. Perandori u zem\u00ebrua dhe e n\u00ebnshtroi Mikaelin n\u00eb tortura dhe posht\u00ebrime t\u00eb r\u00ebnda. M\u00eb pas ai hodhi n\u00eb burg gjith\u00eb ambasad\u00ebn patriarkale, ku q\u00ebndruan t\u00eb burgosur p\u00ebr shum\u00eb vite rresht. Rr\u00ebfimi i tyre megjithat\u00eb ndri\u00e7oi besimtar\u00ebt dhe inkurajoi ortodoks\u00ebt q\u00eb vuajt\u00ebn p\u00ebr ikonat e shenjta n\u00eb t\u00eb gjith\u00eb perandorin\u00eb. Pas vrasjes brutale t\u00eb Leos dhe lirimit t\u00eb tij t\u00eb shkurt\u00ebr nga burgu, Michael u arrestua p\u00ebrs\u00ebri gjat\u00eb Michael Travlou. Q\u00eb at\u00ebher\u00eb ata kan\u00eb mbetur t\u00eb njohur n\u00eb tradit\u00ebn kishtare me pseudonimin Graptoi dhe jan\u00eb nderuar s\u00eb bashku me m\u00ebsuesin e tyre. Mikaeli, si nj\u00eb shtyll\u00eb adamantine, u rezistoi k\u00ebrc\u00ebnimeve dhe lajkave t\u00eb perandorit me vendosm\u00ebri t\u00eb admirueshme. Fillimisht ai u burgos n\u00eb burgjet e pallatit s\u00eb bashku me dishepullin e Jobit dhe shokun e tij konkurrent, duke mbajtur zinxhir\u00eb t\u00eb r\u00ebnd\u00eb. M\u00eb pas ai u internua n\u00eb manastirin Pausiados, ku kaloi vite t\u00eb t\u00ebra privimi, lot\u00ebsh dhe dhimbjesh fizike. Trupi i tij ishte p\u00ebrkulur nga torturat, beli i p\u00ebrkulur, sh\u00ebndeti i tij ishte tronditur plot\u00ebsisht. Por shpirti i tij mbeti i pal\u00ebkundur dhe rr\u00ebfimi i tij m\u00eb i ndritsh\u00ebm se \u00e7do z\u00eb tjet\u00ebr i koh\u00ebs. Me vdekjen e Theophilos, Perandoresha Teodora mori pushtetin s\u00eb bashku me djalin e saj Mikaelin e Tret\u00eb. Pas rr\u00ebzimit t\u00eb Patriarkut ikonoklast Joani Gramatiku, t\u00eb gjitha votat drejtuan Mikaelin. Vet\u00eb Theodora i sugjeroi me k\u00ebmb\u00ebngulje q\u00eb t\u00eb pranonte fronin patriarkal t\u00eb Vasilevousa. Por ai, n\u00eb mosh\u00ebn tet\u00ebdhjet\u00eb vje\u00e7are dhe i rraskapitur nga vuajtjet e gjata, me p\u00ebrul\u00ebsi e refuzoi nderin. N\u00eb vend t\u00eb tij u zgjodh mbrojt\u00ebsi i madh i Ortodoksis\u00eb, Patriarku Metodi, i cili kishte luftuar aq shum\u00eb.
