Pak m\u00eb par\u00eb ai kishte shp\u00ebtuar nga vdekja nj\u00eb grua t\u00eb d\u00ebnuar, duke imituar vet\u00eb Krishtin ndaj m\u00ebkatarit. Sh\u00ebn Jakovi vinte nga krahina e Rostovit dhe q\u00eb n\u00eb mosh\u00eb t\u00eb re e p\u00ebrqafoi me zell jet\u00ebn e vetmuar. Sipas tradit\u00ebs vendase, ai mori form\u00eb monastike n\u00eb manastirin Kopyrsk, pran\u00eb lumit Ukhtoma, dhe p\u00ebr shum\u00eb vite sh\u00ebrbeu atje si abat. Devotshm\u00ebria dhe maturia e tij e b\u00ebn\u00eb bari dhe n\u00eb vitin 1385 u shugurua peshkop i Rostovit. N\u00eb at\u00eb koh\u00eb mitropoliti ishte Pimenas dhe sundimtari i madh ishte Dhimitri Ioannou Donskoi. Por pastorimi i tij nuk zgjati shum\u00eb, pasi shum\u00eb shpejt shp\u00ebrtheu nj\u00eb ngjarje q\u00eb do t&#x27;i ndryshonte rrjedh\u00ebn e jet\u00ebs. Nj\u00eb grua ishte kontrolluar p\u00ebr m\u00ebkate t\u00eb r\u00ebnda dhe sundimtari s\u00eb bashku me zot\u00ebrit e Rostovit e d\u00ebnuan me vdekje. Ajo vrapoi te k\u00ebmb\u00ebt e peshkopit t\u00eb shenjt\u00eb dhe iu lut q\u00eb ta kursente nga ekzekutimi. Sh\u00ebn Jakobi i erdhi keq dhe kujtoi Krishtin, i cili nuk e d\u00ebnoi gruan kuror\u00ebshkel\u00ebse para akuzuesve t\u00eb saj. K\u00ebshtu ai ftoi k\u00ebdo q\u00eb e konsideronte veten t\u00eb pam\u00ebkat q\u00eb t&#x27;i hidhte gurin e par\u00eb asaj. Ai nuk ua dor\u00ebzoi gruan xhelat\u00ebve, por i caktoi nj\u00eb vend t\u00eb ve\u00e7ant\u00eb p\u00ebr t&#x27;u penduar deri n\u00eb fund t\u00eb jet\u00ebs s\u00eb saj. Ky akt zem\u00ebroi sundimtarin dhe zot\u00ebrit, t\u00eb cil\u00ebt konsideruan se peshkopi i tejkaloi t\u00eb drejtat e tij. N\u00eb zem\u00ebrim dhe mosmir\u00ebnjohje ata p\u00ebrzun\u00eb bariun e tyre t\u00eb mir\u00eb nga froni ipeshkvnor dhe e d\u00ebbuan nga qyteti. Duke u larguar, shenjtori shkoi n\u00eb bregun e liqenit t\u00eb Neronit dhe q\u00ebndroi aty i qet\u00eb dhe i patrazuar. Ai hoqi mantelin e kryeprift\u00ebris\u00eb, e shtriu n\u00eb sip\u00ebrfaqen e ujit dhe b\u00ebri shenj\u00ebn e kryqit. Pastaj u ngjit n\u00eb t\u00eb dhe filloi t\u00eb udh\u00ebtonte n\u00eb uj\u00eb, sikur t\u00eb ishte n\u00eb nj\u00eb anije. Pasi lundroi rreth nj\u00eb vers e gjysm\u00eb nga qyteti, doli n\u00eb bregun p\u00ebrball\u00eb. N\u00eb vendin ku ai vuri k\u00ebmb\u00ebn, sot q\u00ebndron manastiri i famsh\u00ebm i Agios Iakovos, martir i mrekullis\u00eb qiellore. Lajmi tronditi menj\u00ebher\u00eb sundimtarin, zot\u00ebrit dhe gjith\u00eb popullin e Rostovit. T\u00eb gjith\u00eb e kuptuan se e kishin trajtuar bariun e tyre t\u00eb shenjt\u00eb padrejt\u00ebsisht dhe mizorisht dhe me p\u00ebrul\u00ebsi k\u00ebrkuan falje. Me lot n\u00eb sy ata iu lut\u00ebn q\u00eb t\u00eb kthehej n\u00eb fronin e tij ipeshkvnor dhe t\u00eb merrte s\u00ebrish p\u00ebrgjegj\u00ebsin\u00eb p\u00ebr tuf\u00ebn e tij. Prelati i but\u00eb dhe i pad\u00ebmsh\u00ebm ua fali menj\u00ebher\u00eb gabimin e tyre t\u00eb r\u00ebnd\u00eb, sepse zemra e tij nuk dinte m\u00ebri kund\u00ebr asnj\u00eb njeriu. Por ai refuzoi kategorikisht t\u00eb kthehej n\u00eb fron dhe preferoi heshtjen e shkret\u00ebtir\u00ebs dhe lutjen. N\u00eb at\u00eb vend, nj\u00eb vers e gjysm\u00eb larg qytetit, ai nd\u00ebrtoi nj\u00eb kasolle t\u00eb p\u00ebrulur p\u00ebr t\u00eb banuar vet\u00ebm me Per\u00ebndin\u00eb. Shum\u00eb shpejt, shum\u00eb besimtar\u00eb dhe murgj t\u00eb devotsh\u00ebm filluan t\u00eb mb\u00ebrrinin atje, duke k\u00ebrkuar q\u00eb t\u00eb q\u00ebndronin pran\u00eb tij dhe t\u00eb p\u00ebrfitonin shpirt\u00ebrisht. K\u00ebshtu shenjtori nd\u00ebrtoi qeli p\u00ebr v\u00ebllez\u00ebrit dhe nj\u00eb tempull p\u00ebr nder t\u00eb kapjes s\u00eb Sh\u00ebn An\u00ebs, duke filluar v\u00ebllaz\u00ebrin\u00eb e famshme t\u00eb manastirit t\u00eb m\u00ebvonsh\u00ebm. Gjat\u00eb koh\u00ebs s\u00eb kryeprift\u00ebris\u00eb s\u00eb tij, n\u00eb Rostov u shfaq nj\u00eb heretik me emrin Markianus, i cili shqet\u00ebsonte njer\u00ebzit me gabimet e tij. Ai m\u00ebsoi se besimtar\u00ebt nuk duhet t\u00eb adhurojn\u00eb imazhet e shenjta dhe i quajti ato idhuj t\u00eb rrem\u00eb. N\u00eb t\u00eb nj\u00ebjt\u00ebn koh\u00eb, ai p\u00ebrhapi ide t\u00eb tjera t\u00eb pabes\u00eb, duke p\u00ebrfituar nga aft\u00ebsia e tij retorike dhe edukimi i tij biblik. Madje kishte arritur t\u00eb t\u00ebrhiqte v\u00ebmendjen e sundimtarit, t\u00eb zot\u00ebrve dhe t\u00eb nj\u00eb pjese t\u00eb njer\u00ebzve t\u00eb thjesht\u00eb. Por Sh\u00ebn Jakovi nuk hezitoi aspak p\u00ebrball\u00eb k\u00ebtij k\u00ebrc\u00ebnimi ndaj besimit ortodoks. N\u00eb prani t\u00eb sundimtarit dhe nj\u00eb turme t\u00eb madhe, ai u p\u00ebrball me heretikun n\u00eb nj\u00eb debat publik teologjik. Me hirin e Zotit dhe fuqin\u00eb e s\u00eb v\u00ebrtet\u00ebs ai kontrolloi plot\u00ebsisht m\u00ebsimet e tij, k\u00ebshtu q\u00eb Marcianus u detyrua t\u00eb largohej nga qyteti i turp\u00ebruar. Shenjtori e p\u00ebrfundoi jet\u00ebn n\u00eb manastirin q\u00eb themeloi, m\u00eb nj\u00ebzet e shtat\u00eb n\u00ebntor nj\u00eb mij\u00eb e treqind e n\u00ebnt\u00ebdhjet\u00eb e dy. Eshtrat e tij t\u00eb shenjta prehen edhe sot e k\u00ebsaj dite n\u00eb manastirin q\u00eb mori emrin e tij p\u00ebr nder t\u00eb themeluesit t\u00eb tij.
