Vet\u00eb Hyjlind\u00ebse e kishte thirrur n\u00eb em\u00ebr p\u00ebrmes ikon\u00ebs s\u00eb saj, p\u00ebr t\u00eb shp\u00ebtuar qytetin q\u00eb lutej n\u00eb gjunj\u00eb. Sh\u00ebn Merkurios vinte nga per\u00ebndimi, ndoshta nga Moravia dhe i p\u00ebrkiste nj\u00eb familjeje fisnike me besim t\u00eb thell\u00eb ortodoks. Q\u00eb n\u00eb rinin\u00eb e tij ai la atdheun e tij dhe erdhi n\u00eb tok\u00ebn ruse, duke k\u00ebrkuar t\u00eb sh\u00ebrbente atje ku u nderua plot\u00ebsisht besimi i v\u00ebrtet\u00eb. Kur d\u00ebgjoi se tartar\u00ebt shkretonin qytetet ruse dhe digjnin tempujt, zemra e tij u ndez nga zelli i shenjt\u00eb dhe d\u00ebshironte t\u00eb jepte jet\u00ebn e tij p\u00ebr besimin dhe p\u00ebr v\u00ebllez\u00ebrit e tij. N\u00eb at\u00eb koh\u00eb nj\u00eb fatkeq\u00ebsi e madhe kishte r\u00ebn\u00eb mbi tok\u00ebn ruse p\u00ebr shkak t\u00eb m\u00ebkateve t\u00eb shumta t\u00eb njer\u00ebzve. Armiqt\u00eb e eg\u00ebr u derdh\u00ebn n\u00eb toka, duke vrar\u00eb banor\u00eb t\u00eb panum\u00ebrt dhe duke t\u00ebrhequr zvarr\u00eb rob\u00ebr t\u00eb lidhur nga flok\u00ebt e tyre. Arat mbet\u00ebn t\u00eb papunuara dhe bishat e egra bredhin mes kufomave. Shum\u00eb zot\u00ebr ran\u00eb duke mbrojtur atdheun e tyre dhe murgj t\u00eb panum\u00ebrt u masakruan n\u00eb manastiret e tyre. Ai vrapoi menj\u00ebher\u00eb dhe e gjeti Shenjtorin n\u00eb oborr, me arm\u00ebt e tij, sikur ta dinte tashm\u00eb thirrjen q\u00eb po vinte. Ai i tregoi se kjo ishte arsyeja pse e kishte thirrur nga atdheu i larg\u00ebt dhe po e d\u00ebrgonte at\u00eb nat\u00eb n\u00eb Dolgomostie. Ai i premtoi se do t\u00eb mundte prij\u00ebsin e tmerrsh\u00ebm t\u00eb armiqve dhe se ai vet\u00eb do t\u00eb merrte kuror\u00ebn e fitores. I mbushur me g\u00ebzim falenderoi Despin\u00ebn dhe nisi menj\u00ebher\u00eb. Nata ishte e thell\u00eb dhe banor\u00ebt flinin pa dyshuar p\u00ebr sulmin e af\u00ebrt. Gjigandi kryelart\u00eb ra i vdekur i pari, pasi e gjith\u00eb forca e tij humbi para ushtarit t\u00eb Krishtit. Shum\u00eb t\u00eb tjer\u00eb nga armiku nga pararoja ran\u00eb nga shpata e tij dhe pjesa tjet\u00ebr ik\u00ebn t\u00eb tmerruar. M\u00ebrkuri u t\u00ebrhoq nga nj\u00ebra an\u00eb dhe filloi t\u00eb fal\u00ebnderonte Hyjlind\u00ebsen me gjith\u00eb zem\u00ebr p\u00ebr pranin\u00eb e saj. Disa koh\u00eb m\u00eb von\u00eb Sh\u00ebn iu shfaq n\u00eb \u00ebnd\u00ebrr t\u00eb riut dhe e urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb t\u00eb varte arm\u00ebt mbi varr, n\u00eb kujtim t\u00eb ndihm\u00ebs s\u00eb Hyjlind\u00ebs. N\u00eb t\u00eb nj\u00ebjt\u00ebn koh\u00eb, ai u premtoi q\u00ebllimin e tij atyre q\u00eb do ta th\u00ebrrisnin me besim dhe nderim n\u00eb mundime. Smolenskit\u00ebt e p\u00ebrmbush\u00ebn menj\u00ebher\u00eb urdhrin e Shenjtit dhe var\u00ebn arm\u00ebt e tij mbi varrin e tij, si nj\u00eb d\u00ebshmi e q\u00ebndrueshme e fitores.
