Mbante th\u00ebngjij t\u00eb ndezur dhe temjan n\u00eb p\u00ebll\u00ebmb\u00ebn e tij derisa gishtat e tij ran\u00eb t\u00eb djegur n\u00eb tok\u00eb nga zjarri. Ai vinte nga Antiokia e Siris\u00eb dhe tashm\u00eb kishte arritur nj\u00eb mosh\u00eb t\u00eb shtyr\u00eb kur shp\u00ebrtheu persekutimi i madh kund\u00ebr t\u00eb krishter\u00ebve. Pagan\u00ebt e arrestuan p\u00ebr rr\u00ebfimin e emrit t\u00eb Jisu Krishtit dhe e \u00e7uan para prefektit t\u00eb Antiokis\u00eb. Aty i b\u00ebn\u00eb presion dhe k\u00ebrc\u00ebnuan q\u00eb t\u00eb b\u00ebnte flijime p\u00ebr idhujt, si\u00e7 e k\u00ebrkon ligji i perandoris\u00eb. Por plaku refuzoi me k\u00ebmb\u00ebngulje dhe rr\u00ebfeu publikisht besimin e tij n\u00eb Zotin e v\u00ebrtet\u00eb. M\u00eb pas filluan torturat e tmerrshme, q\u00eb synonin t\u00eb p\u00ebrkulnin trupin e tij t\u00eb plakur. Fillimisht e fshikulluan pa m\u00ebshir\u00eb me gjymtyr\u00eb kau dhe m\u00eb pas ia gris\u00ebn mishin me kthetra hekuri. Por plaku Barlaami mbeti n\u00eb k\u00ebmb\u00eb, si nj\u00eb shtyll\u00eb e pal\u00ebkundshme, duke mos l\u00ebshuar rrug\u00eb as sadopak. Persekutor\u00ebt, duke par\u00eb se torturat e zakonshme nuk soll\u00ebn efekt, menduan p\u00ebr nj\u00eb metod\u00eb m\u00eb dinake dhe m\u00eb tradhtare. E \u00e7uan n\u00eb tempullin e idhujve, p\u00ebrpara altarit ku digjej zjarri i flijimit. Ia shtrin\u00eb me forc\u00eb dor\u00ebn e djatht\u00eb mbi altar dhe i vendos\u00ebn qymyr t\u00eb ndezur bashk\u00eb me temjan n\u00eb p\u00ebll\u00ebmb\u00ebn e tij. Mendimi i tyre ishte i thjesht\u00eb dhe djall\u00ebzor n\u00eb t\u00eb nj\u00ebjt\u00ebn koh\u00eb. Ata besonin se dhimbja do t\u00eb b\u00ebhej e padurueshme dhe plaku do t\u00eb tundte padashur th\u00ebngjijt\u00eb brenda altarit. K\u00ebshtu ata mund t\u00eb b\u00ebrtisnin n\u00eb triumf se ai u kishte ofruar nj\u00eb flijim per\u00ebndive t\u00eb tyre. Por d\u00ebshmori q\u00ebndroi m\u00eb i fort\u00eb se \u00e7do metal dhe \u00e7do llogaritje. Ai e mbajti dor\u00ebn t\u00eb pal\u00ebvizur, t\u00eb fort\u00eb si nj\u00eb altar bronzi, duke mos treguar asnj\u00eb shenj\u00eb p\u00ebrkuljeje. Zjarri po i digjte mishin dhe po futej thell\u00eb n\u00eb kockat e tij. Ai lavd\u00ebroi Zotin dhe bekoi emrin e tij. Gishtat u dogj\u00ebn plot\u00ebsisht dhe ran\u00eb n\u00eb tok\u00eb bashk\u00eb me th\u00ebngjijt\u00eb e djegur. Edhe at\u00ebher\u00eb plaku nuk l\u00ebvizi dor\u00ebn dhe nuk e hodhi zjarrin n\u00eb altarin e idhujve. Ai q\u00ebndroi si nj\u00eb ushtar i pamposhtur i Krishtit dhe si nj\u00eb atlet trim i Kish\u00ebs deri n\u00eb momentin e fundit. Me k\u00ebt\u00eb rr\u00ebfim t\u00eb mrekulluesh\u00ebm, ai ia dor\u00ebzoi n\u00eb m\u00ebnyr\u00eb paq\u00ebsore shpirtin Zotit t\u00eb cilit i kishte sh\u00ebrbyer me aq besnik\u00ebri gjat\u00eb gjith\u00eb jet\u00ebs s\u00eb tij. Vasili i Madh dhe Sh\u00ebn Gojarti e konsideruan detyr\u00ebn e tyre t\u00eb shkruanin lavde p\u00ebr k\u00ebt\u00eb sportist trim t\u00eb besimit. Ata than\u00eb se ai plak i thjesht\u00eb u b\u00eb m\u00ebsues i devotshm\u00ebris\u00eb p\u00ebr t\u00eb gjith\u00eb Kish\u00ebn dhe tregoi se dashuria e Krishtit mund zjarrin dhe dhimbjen.
