Gjasht\u00eb mij\u00eb pagan\u00eb besuan at\u00eb dit\u00eb, kur lutja e d\u00ebshmorit u shk\u00ebrmoq p\u00ebr t\u00eb pluhurosur idhujt q\u00eb q\u00ebndronin pran\u00eb tij. Kujtimi i tre shenjtor\u00ebve p\u00ebrkujtohet m\u00eb pes\u00ebmb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb n\u00ebntor dhe na kthen n\u00eb vitet e turbullta t\u00eb rikthimit t\u00eb paganizmit n\u00eb perandori. Elpidi sh\u00ebrbeu si an\u00ebtar i Senatit, n\u00eb nj\u00eb koh\u00eb kur rr\u00ebfimi i besimit i kushtoi jet\u00ebn. Kur e \u00e7uan t\u00eb lidhur p\u00ebrpara foltores, perandori i paraqiti qart\u00eb dilem\u00ebn midis mohimit t\u00eb Krishtit dhe vdekjes s\u00eb nj\u00eb martiri mizor. D\u00ebshmori u p\u00ebrgjigj pa hezitim dhe zgjodhi menj\u00ebher\u00eb rrug\u00ebn e sakrific\u00ebs. Me t\u00eb q\u00ebndronin dy miq dhe koleg\u00eb besnik\u00eb nga i nj\u00ebjti rreth, Marcellus dhe Eustochius. T\u00eb tre burrat u p\u00ebrball\u00ebn me po aq guxim edhe k\u00ebrc\u00ebnimet e gjyqtar\u00ebve dhe torturuesve. Sa m\u00eb t\u00eb r\u00ebnda t\u00eb jen\u00eb d\u00ebnimet, aq m\u00eb i ndritsh\u00ebm \u00ebsht\u00eb rr\u00ebfimi i tyre para turm\u00ebs dhe princave. Ekzekutuesit e vesh\u00ebn Elpidin me nj\u00eb rrob\u00eb t\u00eb ashp\u00ebr me qime, t\u00eb mb\u00ebshtjell\u00eb me thonj dhe t\u00eb lyer me katranin e nxeht\u00eb. Pastaj e rrah\u00ebn pa m\u00ebshir\u00eb, saq\u00eb gozhd\u00ebt u fut\u00ebn thell\u00eb e m\u00eb thell\u00eb n\u00eb mishin e tij t\u00eb plagosur. Martiri i duroi dhimbjet me durim t\u00eb mrekulluesh\u00ebm dhe refuzoi \u00e7do nxitje p\u00ebr t\u00eb mohuar Krishtin. Pastaj e hodh\u00ebn n\u00eb nj\u00eb grop\u00eb dhe filluan t&#x27;i derdhin uj\u00eb t\u00eb vluar, i cili e mbushi trupin me plag\u00eb t\u00eb tmerrshme. Zoti i paligjsh\u00ebm, i pak\u00ebnaqur me mizorin\u00eb, urdh\u00ebroi t\u00eb p\u00ebrziheshin katranin, dyllin dhe substanca t\u00eb tjera t\u00eb ngjashme. Ata e ndeznin k\u00ebt\u00eb p\u00ebrzierje dhe e derdhnin mbi plag\u00ebt q\u00eb tashm\u00eb ishin kalbur nga torturat e m\u00ebparshme. N\u00eb goj\u00ebn e d\u00ebshmorit xhelat\u00ebt derdh\u00ebn edhe katranin e nxeht\u00eb, p\u00ebr t\u00eb shtuar dhimbjen dhe mbytjen. Pastaj e lidh\u00ebn Elpidin me Marcellin dhe Eustokin me kuaj t\u00eb eg\u00ebr, duke synuar t&#x27;i cop\u00ebtojn\u00eb n\u00eb rrug\u00eb. Kafsh\u00ebt, megjithat\u00eb, nuk i d\u00ebmtuan, por i mbanin me qet\u00ebsi, sikur t\u00eb njihnin shenjt\u00ebrin\u00eb e burrave q\u00eb mbanin. T\u00eb krishter\u00ebt i mor\u00ebn fshehurazi eshtrat e tyre t\u00eb shenjta dhe i varros\u00ebn n\u00eb malin Karmel, p\u00ebr t&#x27;i mbrojtur nga persekutuesit. Aty kufomat q\u00ebndruan p\u00ebr ca koh\u00eb, derisa ndodhi di\u00e7ka mjaft e mrekullueshme dhe e pazakont\u00eb. Vet\u00eb Krishti u shfaq n\u00eb vendin e varrimit, i shoq\u00ebruar nga forcat engj\u00ebllore, mes vet\u00ebtimave dhe bubullimave. Ai e p\u00ebrsh\u00ebndeti martir\u00ebn si v\u00ebllez\u00ebr e miq dhe e ngriti trupin e Elpidit nga dheu. K\u00ebshtu ai i dha nj\u00eb jet\u00eb t\u00eb re dhe e d\u00ebrgoi p\u00ebrs\u00ebri n\u00eb luft\u00ebn e rr\u00ebfimit. Fama e k\u00ebsaj ringjalljeje t\u00eb mrekullueshme u p\u00ebrhap shpejt dhe arriti n\u00eb pallatet e Julianit. Perandori u shqet\u00ebsua thell\u00eb nga lajmi dhe urdh\u00ebroi menj\u00ebher\u00eb q\u00eb t\u00eb riarrestohej martiri i ringjallur i Krishtit. Ekzekutuesit e lidh\u00ebn Elpidin n\u00eb kat\u00ebr shtylla dhe e shtrin\u00eb fort trupin e tij n\u00eb aj\u00ebr t\u00eb hapur. E rrah\u00ebn pa m\u00ebshir\u00eb, i hap\u00ebn plag\u00eb me sharra t\u00eb mprehta dhe ia f\u00ebrkonin mishin me uthull e krip\u00eb. Pastaj e vun\u00eb mbi th\u00ebngjij t\u00eb ndezur dhe ia mbuluan trupin me hi t\u00eb djegur. Kur d\u00ebshmori i kap\u00ebrceu me trim\u00ebri k\u00ebto tortura t\u00eb tmerrshme, ushtar\u00ebt e var\u00ebn n\u00eb nj\u00eb pem\u00eb. I vendos\u00ebn nj\u00eb mburoj\u00eb t\u00eb ndezur n\u00eb trup dhe vazhdimisht i hidhnin hi t\u00eb nxeht\u00eb n\u00eb fytyr\u00eb. N\u00eb mes t\u00eb k\u00ebtij tmerri ndodhi nj\u00eb mrekulli e madhe para syve t\u00eb t\u00eb gjith\u00ebve.
