N\u00eb mosh\u00ebn nj\u00ebzet e kat\u00ebr vje\u00e7, ai u largua fshehurazi nga sht\u00ebpia e t\u00eb atit dhe mori form\u00ebn monastike nga Sh\u00ebn Antoni, n\u00eb Manastirin e famsh\u00ebm t\u00eb Shpellave t\u00eb Kievit. Osh\u00ebnar Theodosius lindi n\u00eb Vasilevo, nj\u00eb vend i vog\u00ebl af\u00ebr Kievit dhe konsiderohet si babai i monastizmit n\u00eb Rusi. Q\u00eb n\u00eb f\u00ebmij\u00ebri ndjeu brenda vetes nj\u00eb t\u00ebrheqje t\u00eb parezistueshme ndaj jet\u00ebs asketike dhe jetoi me kursim edhe brenda sht\u00ebpis\u00eb s\u00eb prind\u00ebrve. Ai foli me t\u00eb ashp\u00ebr dhe i k\u00ebrkoi t\u00eb nd\u00ebrronte ndenj\u00ebset, n\u00eb m\u00ebnyr\u00eb q\u00eb ai vet\u00eb t\u00eb pushonte n\u00eb karroc\u00eb.
