Tet\u00ebdhjet\u00eb klerik\u00eb t\u00eb Edessa-s u \u00e7uan n\u00eb m\u00ebrgim t\u00eb lidhur me zinxhir\u00eb sepse refuzuan t\u00eb komunikonin me pseudo-peshkopin marsian Lupus. E gjith\u00eb kjo ndodhi n\u00eb gjysm\u00ebn e dyt\u00eb t\u00eb shekullit t\u00eb kat\u00ebrt, kur perandori Uells sundoi territorin lindor. Kisha sapo kishte gjetur lirin\u00eb e saj pas persekutimeve t\u00eb pagan\u00ebve, por nj\u00eb luft\u00eb e re shp\u00ebrtheu nga brenda. Ai kishte marr\u00eb nga Zoti dhurat\u00ebn e sh\u00ebrimit t\u00eb \u00e7do s\u00ebmundjeje dhe mbrojti me forc\u00eb rr\u00ebfimin ortodoks. Prania e tij ishte nj\u00eb gjemb n\u00eb sy p\u00ebr marsian\u00ebt e oborrit. Uellsi nuk mund t\u00eb duronte d\u00ebshmin\u00eb e peshkopit t\u00eb shenjt\u00eb dhe e d\u00ebboi at\u00eb nga froni i Edessa. Ishulli i Aradit u caktua si vendi i par\u00eb i m\u00ebrgimit, ku besimtar\u00ebt e prit\u00ebn me nderime shenjtorin dhe d\u00ebgjuan me padurim m\u00ebsimet e tij. Kur lajmi arriti te perandori, Varsis u d\u00ebrgua n\u00eb qytetin egjiptian Oxyrhynchus, por edhe atje njer\u00ebzit nxituan p\u00ebr ta nderuar. Nj\u00eb urdh\u00ebr i ri e d\u00ebrgoi at\u00eb n\u00eb qytetin e larg\u00ebt t\u00eb Fenon, pran\u00eb territoreve t\u00eb barbar\u00ebve, n\u00eb kufijt\u00eb e perandoris\u00eb. K\u00ebshtu nj\u00eb ujk grabitqar hyri n\u00eb kopen\u00eb e Krishtit, i veshur me petkun e prift\u00ebris\u00eb s\u00eb lart\u00eb. Populli besnik refuzoi \u00e7do kontakt me heretikun dhe ua la tempujt e qytetit pushtuesve t\u00eb besimit. Banor\u00ebt ortodoks\u00eb dol\u00ebn jasht\u00eb mureve dhe u mblodh\u00ebn n\u00eb nj\u00eb hap\u00ebsir\u00eb \u200b\u200bt\u00eb hapur, ku kremtonin Hyjnoren e Liturgjis\u00eb si t\u00eb ishin n\u00eb tempull. T\u00eb gjitha kishat n\u00eb qytet ishin mbyllur p\u00ebr ta dhe kaluan n\u00eb duart e marsian\u00ebve me urdh\u00ebr perandorak. Nj\u00eb her\u00eb vet\u00eb Uellsi mb\u00ebrriti n\u00eb Edessa duke ardhur nga Antiokia dhe m\u00ebsoi p\u00ebr k\u00ebmb\u00ebnguljen e popullit. Ai u t\u00ebrbua me prefektin Modesti dhe e goditi n\u00eb fytyr\u00eb p\u00ebr tolerimin e nj\u00eb rezistence t\u00eb till\u00eb. Ai urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb ushtar\u00ebt e armatosur t\u00eb p\u00ebrgatiteshin, t\u00eb dilnin n\u00eb vendin e faljes dhe t\u00eb therin adhuruesit. Por prefekti i erdhi keq p\u00ebr njer\u00ebzit e pafajsh\u00ebm dhe i paralajm\u00ebroi fshehurazi q\u00eb t\u00eb mos largoheshin nga qyteti t\u00eb nes\u00ebrmen. Ortodoks\u00ebt, sapo d\u00ebgjuan paralajm\u00ebrimin, n\u00eb vend q\u00eb t\u00eb frik\u00ebsoheshin, u mbush\u00ebn me zell m\u00eb t\u00eb madh p\u00ebr martirizimin. Ata u ngrit\u00ebn her\u00ebt n\u00eb m\u00ebngjes dhe dol\u00ebn me grat\u00eb dhe f\u00ebmij\u00ebt e tyre, t\u00eb vendosur t\u00eb vdisnin p\u00ebr Krishtin. Ata u drejtuan p\u00ebr n\u00eb vendin e tyre t\u00eb zakonsh\u00ebm t\u00eb takimit, sikur po nxitonin p\u00ebr n\u00eb nj\u00eb fest\u00eb. Modesti doli me ushtar\u00ebt e tij drejt atij vendi sikur t\u00eb ishte nisur p\u00ebr n\u00eb luft\u00eb. Prefekti urdh\u00ebroi ta \u00e7onin para tij dhe e pyeti pse vraponte kaq her\u00ebt dhe me kaq nxitim. Ajo u p\u00ebrgjigj se po nxitonte n\u00eb fush\u00ebn ku po mblidheshin t\u00eb krishter\u00ebt p\u00ebr sh\u00ebrbimin. Kur ai e paralajm\u00ebroi se ajo do t\u00eb gjente vdekjen atje, gruaja u p\u00ebrgjigj se ishte pik\u00ebrisht kjo arsyeja pse ajo nxitonte, t\u00eb vdiste me ta p\u00ebr emrin e Krishtit. Kur e pyet\u00ebn pse mbante f\u00ebmij\u00ebn e vog\u00ebl, ajo u p\u00ebrgjigj se donte q\u00eb f\u00ebmija i saj t\u00eb merrte kuror\u00ebn e d\u00ebshmorit me t\u00eb. Prefekti u shtang nga nj\u00eb zell i till\u00eb dhe i urdh\u00ebroi ushtar\u00ebt t\u00eb ktheheshin prapa. Ai nxitoi te perandori dhe deklaroi se ishte gati t\u00eb vdiste, por nuk ishte n\u00eb gjendje t\u00eb zbatonte urdhrin. Ai i tregoi Uelisit ngjarjen me gruan dhe f\u00ebmij\u00ebn dhe gatishm\u00ebrin\u00eb e gjith\u00eb popullit p\u00ebr shehid. Ai shtoi se nuk do t\u00eb kishte asnj\u00eb p\u00ebrfitim nga therja e nj\u00eb populli. Me k\u00ebto fjal\u00eb prefekti e qortoi perandorin, i cili urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb t\u00eb mos ngacmohej populli, por t\u00eb arrestoheshin vet\u00ebm prift\u00ebrinjt\u00eb, dhjak\u00ebt dhe klerik\u00ebt. Modesti m\u00eb pas thirri t\u00eb gjith\u00eb klerin ortodoks t\u00eb Edes\u00ebs dhe me but\u00ebsi i sugjeroi q\u00eb t\u00eb komunikonin me pseudopeshkopin Lupus. Ai u tha atyre se ishte absurde q\u00eb kaq pak njer\u00ebz t&#x27;i rezistonin nj\u00eb perandori q\u00eb sundonte mbi kaq shum\u00eb vende. T\u00eb gjith\u00eb hesht\u00ebn p\u00ebrball\u00eb thirrjeve t\u00eb tij. Pastaj prefekti iu drejtua plakut Eulogios dhe e pyeti pse nuk u p\u00ebrgjigj. Ai u p\u00ebrgjigj se nuk donte t\u00eb fliste p\u00ebr t\u00eb gjith\u00eb, por do t\u00eb p\u00ebrgjigjej n\u00ebse pyetej personalisht. Kur u pyet pse nuk komunikon me perandorin, Evlogios u p\u00ebrgjigj me ironi duke pyetur n\u00ebse mbreti kishte marr\u00eb k\u00ebshtu grad\u00ebn e presbiterit. Prefekti u t\u00ebrbua dhe e quajti budalla, por plaku me t\u00eb tjer\u00ebt rr\u00ebfeu besimin e tij n\u00eb Krishtin si Zot i v\u00ebrtet\u00eb dhe i nj\u00ebjt\u00eb me Atin. Modestii arrestoi tet\u00ebdhjet\u00eb klerik\u00eb, i lidhi me zinxhir\u00eb dhe i d\u00ebrgoi n\u00eb m\u00ebrgim n\u00eb Traki. Gjat\u00eb rrug\u00ebs, njer\u00ebzit besnik\u00eb i p\u00ebrsh\u00ebndet\u00ebn me nderime. Kur heretik\u00ebt m\u00ebsuan p\u00ebr nderimet, ata nxituan t&#x27;i raportojn\u00eb perandorit se m\u00ebrgimi ishte ndryshuar n\u00eb lavd\u00ebrim. Uellsi urdh\u00ebroi menj\u00ebher\u00eb q\u00eb rr\u00ebfimtar\u00ebt t\u00eb ndaheshin n\u00eb dysh dhe t\u00eb shp\u00ebrndaheshin n\u00eb toka t\u00eb ndryshme t\u00eb larg\u00ebta t\u00eb perandoris\u00eb. Disa u d\u00ebrguan n\u00eb Traki, disa n\u00eb Arabi dhe disa n\u00eb Egjipt, larg nj\u00ebri-tjetrit. Plaku i bekuar Eulogios s\u00eb bashku me plakun e ndersh\u00ebm Protogenes u \u00e7uan n\u00eb qytetin Antinous t\u00eb Thebaidit. Atje t\u00eb krishter\u00ebt ishin t\u00eb pakt\u00eb, nd\u00ebrsa pagan\u00ebt ishin nj\u00eb turm\u00eb e panum\u00ebrt n\u00eb qytet. Dy shenjtor\u00ebt q\u00ebndruan p\u00ebr ca koh\u00eb dhe sh\u00ebruan s\u00ebmundje t\u00eb ndryshme duke thirrur emrin e Jisu Krishtit. Me fjal\u00ebn dhe mrekullit\u00eb e tyre ata udh\u00ebhoq\u00ebn shum\u00eb pagan\u00eb n\u00eb besimin e v\u00ebrtet\u00eb dhe u dhan\u00eb atyre pag\u00ebzimin e shenjt\u00eb. Kur Uells\u00ebt e pabes\u00eb vdiq\u00ebn n\u00eb betej\u00eb dhe i devotshmi Theodosius mori fronin e Lindjes, sekti marsian u trondit dhe u t\u00ebrhoq. Rr\u00ebfimtar\u00ebt q\u00eb ishin ende gjall\u00eb u kthyen t\u00eb lir\u00eb n\u00eb vendlindjet e tyre dhe krer\u00ebt e prift\u00ebrinjve ortodoks\u00eb mor\u00ebn p\u00ebrs\u00ebri fronet e tyre.
