Nga abat\u00ebt e tij kaluan dy Patriark\u00eb t\u00eb m\u00ebdhenj, Meletios Pigas i Aleksandris\u00eb dhe Kirili Lukaris i Kostandinopoj\u00ebs. Manastiri i Shenjt\u00eb i Agarathos ndodhet n\u00eb provinc\u00ebn e Pediados t\u00eb Heraklionit, n\u00eb jugper\u00ebndim t\u00eb kodr\u00ebs Soros Panteli, n\u00eb nj\u00eb lart\u00ebsi prej pes\u00ebqind e tridhjet\u00eb e tet\u00eb metrash. I kushtohet Fjetjes s\u00eb Virgj\u00ebresh\u00ebs dhe kremtohet solemnisht \u00e7do vit m\u00eb pes\u00ebmb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb gusht me nj\u00eb tubim t\u00eb madh besimtar\u00ebsh. Emri i saj vjen nga agarathia, q\u00eb \u00ebsht\u00eb i urti i Jeruzalemit, pasi tradita e lidh themelimin e saj me gjetjen e ikon\u00ebs s\u00eb mrekullueshme t\u00eb Hyjlind\u00ebs. Besimtar\u00ebt q\u00eb ngjiten n\u00eb manastir ndjejn\u00eb se po shkelin n\u00eb tok\u00eb t\u00eb ujitur nga lutja dhe lufta shekullore. Ikona e Hyjlind\u00ebs Jetim shquhet nd\u00ebr reliket e manastirit p\u00ebr lasht\u00ebsin\u00eb dhe hirin e saj. Rreth saj u thurr nj\u00eb histori besimi, edukimi dhe q\u00ebndrese q\u00eb sh\u00ebnoi gjith\u00eb Kret\u00ebn gjat\u00eb shekujve t\u00eb v\u00ebshtir\u00eb t\u00eb skllav\u00ebris\u00eb. Dor\u00ebshkrimet e ruajtura sot n\u00eb Muzeun Britanik dhe q\u00eb datojn\u00eb nga viti 1559 pas Krishtit d\u00ebshmojn\u00eb se manastiri kishte nj\u00eb bibliotek\u00eb t\u00eb jasht\u00ebzakonshme. Dokumentet e tjera shkojn\u00eb edhe m\u00eb tej, si nj\u00eb dor\u00ebshkrim i vitit 1532 i mbajtur n\u00eb Bibliotek\u00ebn Marcian n\u00eb Venecia. Manastiri p\u00ebrmendet edhe n\u00eb nj\u00eb kontrat\u00eb t\u00eb vitit 1538 dhe n\u00eb p\u00ebrshkrimet e studiuesit t\u00eb famsh\u00ebm Cornelius p\u00ebr Kret\u00ebn. N\u00eb port\u00ebn veriore t\u00eb manastirit \u00ebsht\u00eb gdhendur data 1585, nd\u00ebrsa n\u00eb jug \u00ebsht\u00eb 1583. Pran\u00eb hyrjes aktuale ndodhet nj\u00eb sarkofag me vitin 1554 dhe mbishkrimin Theodhori Toumba. N\u00eb t\u00eb djatht\u00eb ka nj\u00eb magazin\u00eb t\u00eb harkuar, vep\u00ebr e Maximos Loukareos, v\u00ebllait t\u00eb Kirili Loukareos, e dat\u00ebs 1628. T\u00eb gjitha k\u00ebto mbishkrime lidhin t\u00eb tashmen me nj\u00eb t\u00eb kaluar t\u00eb gjat\u00eb lutjeje dhe pune shpirt\u00ebrore. Kisha e tanishme ka dy korsi, me bregun e dyt\u00eb kushtuar Agios Minas, dhe \u00ebsht\u00eb nj\u00ebzet e dy kilometra nga Heraklioni. Tempulli u rind\u00ebrtua nga piedestalet n\u00eb vendin e nj\u00eb m\u00eb t\u00eb vjet\u00ebr dhe u p\u00ebrurua n\u00eb 1894. Gjat\u00eb periudh\u00ebs s\u00eb pushtimit venedikas, manastiri u b\u00eb nj\u00eb \u00e7erdhe e v\u00ebrtet\u00eb edukimi dhe kultivimi shpirt\u00ebror p\u00ebr t\u00eb gjith\u00eb Kret\u00ebn. S\u00eb bashku me Manastirin e Sh\u00ebn Katerin\u00ebs n\u00eb Heraklion, ai ishte nj\u00eb qend\u00ebr studimi, ku studionin studiues q\u00eb sh\u00ebnuan Ortodoksin\u00eb. Nga qelit\u00eb e saj kaluan abat\u00ebt q\u00eb m\u00eb von\u00eb u ngjit\u00ebn n\u00eb fronet patriarkale, me Meletios Pigas dhe Kirili Loukaris si figura kryesore. I pari u b\u00eb Patriarku i Aleksandris\u00eb dhe nderohet m\u00eb 13 shtator, nd\u00ebrsa Patriarku i dyt\u00eb i Kostandinopoj\u00ebs nderohet m\u00eb nj\u00ebzet e shtat\u00eb qershor. Kur turqit pushtuan ishullin, murgjit u siguruan q\u00eb thesaret e tyre t\u00eb shenjta t\u00eb mos humbisnin. Nj\u00eb igumen solli n\u00eb Kythir\u00eb ikon\u00ebn m\u00eb t\u00eb lasht\u00eb t\u00eb Hyjlind\u00ebs Jetimit s\u00eb bashku me objektet e tjera t\u00eb shenjta dhe dokumentet e manastirit. K\u00ebshtu u shp\u00ebtua shpirti i manastirit, kur muret e tij ishin n\u00eb rrezik nga pushtuesit dhe pla\u00e7kitjet. Emri Jetim fitoi nj\u00eb thell\u00ebsi t\u00eb ve\u00e7ant\u00eb p\u00ebr Kretasit, pasi Hyjlind\u00ebse q\u00ebndronte si n\u00ebn\u00eb p\u00ebr jetim\u00ebt e liris\u00eb. Ikona mbeti nj\u00eb simbol i rehatis\u00eb dhe shpres\u00ebs n\u00eb nj\u00eb koh\u00eb sprove t\u00eb r\u00ebnda p\u00ebr njer\u00ebzit e ishullit. Manastiri i Agarathos nuk kufizohej vet\u00ebm n\u00eb adhurim dhe letra, por q\u00ebndronte edhe si nj\u00eb k\u00ebshtjell\u00eb lufte. N\u00eb vitin 1646, n\u00eb mes t\u00eb luft\u00ebs kund\u00ebr turqve, Abati Athanasi Kristoforos formoi nj\u00eb trup\u00eb luft\u00ebtar\u00ebsh Kretan\u00eb. Me k\u00ebt\u00eb trup t\u00eb armatosur ai vet\u00eb luftoi p\u00ebrkrah bashkatdhetar\u00ebve t\u00eb tij, duke treguar se kasoja nuk e pengonte sakrific\u00ebn p\u00ebr vendin. Gjat\u00eb pushtimit turk, manastiri u b\u00eb selia e Mitropolitit t\u00eb par\u00eb t\u00eb Kret\u00ebs, Neophytos Patelaros, i cili mori p\u00ebrsip\u00ebr nj\u00eb detyr\u00eb shum\u00eb t\u00eb r\u00ebnd\u00ebsishme baritore. Kur u dha urdhri p\u00ebr shkat\u00ebrrimin e manastirit, Mitropoliti arriti ta p\u00ebrmbys\u00eb at\u00eb fal\u00eb marr\u00ebdh\u00ebnieve miq\u00ebsore me Pash\u00eb Ahmet Kioprulin. K\u00ebshtu Agarathos u shp\u00ebtua nga nj\u00eb shkretim i caktuar dhe vazhdoi t\u00eb ishte nj\u00eb streh\u00eb besimi p\u00ebr t\u00eb krishter\u00ebt e persekutuar t\u00eb Kret\u00ebs. N\u00eb mars t\u00eb vitit 1893, nj\u00eb stuhi rr\u00ebzoi kambanor\u00ebn e kish\u00ebs, por shpejt ajo u rind\u00ebrtua nga besimtar\u00ebt. Sot manastiri funksionon si kish\u00eb famullitare dhe \u00e7do pes\u00ebmb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb gusht festohet me shk\u00eblqim Hyjlind\u00ebse Jetimi.
