Disa vjet m\u00eb par\u00eb, t\u00eb Diel\u00ebn e Palm\u00ebs 1821, Turkalvan\u00ebt i kishin dh\u00ebn\u00eb zjarrit t\u00eb nj\u00ebjtin manastir. Manastiri i Shenjt\u00eb i Gerokomeio \u00ebsht\u00eb nd\u00ebr manastiret m\u00eb t\u00eb vjetra n\u00eb Greqi, pasi u themelua rreth shekullit t\u00eb dhjet\u00eb pas Krishtit. Pik\u00ebrisht at\u00ebher\u00eb u shfaq monastizmi n\u00eb zon\u00ebn kryesore greke dhe manastiret e para filluan t\u00eb lul\u00ebzojn\u00eb. Emri i saj \u00ebsht\u00eb p\u00ebr shkak t\u00eb nj\u00eb sht\u00ebpie t\u00eb vjet\u00ebr t\u00eb t\u00eb moshuarve q\u00eb ekzistonte n\u00eb vend, s\u00eb bashku me tempullin e saj. T\u00eb tjer\u00eb argumentojn\u00eb se vet\u00eb murgjit e nd\u00ebrtuan sht\u00ebpin\u00eb e t\u00eb moshuarve s\u00eb bashku me manastirin dhe e mir\u00ebmbanin me kujdes. Nj\u00eb tradit\u00eb e vjet\u00ebr, e pranuar nga historiani Thomopoulos, e lidh themelin me Sh\u00ebn Artemios dhe transferimin e relikteve t\u00eb Sh\u00ebn Andrea n\u00eb Kostandinopoj\u00eb. N\u00eb t\u00eb nj\u00ebjtin vend, gjat\u00eb epok\u00ebs parakristiane, ekzistonte nj\u00eb tempull pagan q\u00eb ndoshta i ishte kushtuar per\u00ebndesh\u00ebs Artemis t\u00eb bot\u00ebs antike. Kur Patras ra n\u00eb duart e Frank\u00ebve n\u00eb 1204 pas Krishtit, manastiri ishte n\u00eb prosperitet dhe lul\u00ebzim t\u00eb madh shpirt\u00ebror. Urdhrat e ndrysh\u00ebm shenjt\u00ebror\u00eb t\u00eb Per\u00ebndimit debatuan mes tyre se kush do ta zot\u00ebronte k\u00ebt\u00eb manastir t\u00eb pasur dhe historik. Et\u00ebrit e manastirit u detyruan nga pushtuesit t\u00eb zgjidhnin midis bindjes ndaj Pap\u00ebs dhe internimit. Ata zgjodh\u00ebn me dinjitet rrug\u00ebn e dyt\u00eb dhe u larguan, duke d\u00ebshmuar besimin e tyre n\u00eb Ortodoksi. P\u00ebr disa koh\u00eb manastiri ishte edhe bazilik\u00eb, pasi i p\u00ebrkiste Palaiologos, despotit t\u00eb Mystras. M\u00eb von\u00eb kaloi n\u00ebp\u00ebr sprova t\u00eb m\u00ebdha, e para prej t\u00eb cilave ishte djegia e saj nga Turkalvan\u00ebt t\u00eb Premten e Madhe t\u00eb nj\u00eb mij\u00eb e shtat\u00ebqind e shtat\u00ebdhjet\u00eb, n\u00eb vitet e Orlovian\u00ebve. N\u00eb periudh\u00ebn e Rebelimit Komb\u00ebtar, manastiri u b\u00eb sken\u00eb e shum\u00eb betejave dhe kryengrit\u00ebsve, gra e f\u00ebmij\u00eb dhe klerik\u00eb u strehuan atje. Beteja e zhvilluar nga Kolokotroni n\u00eb zon\u00ebn e manastirit vendosi shum\u00eb p\u00ebr rezultatin e Betej\u00ebs. Populli besonte fort se Hyjlind\u00ebse Zonja e Vjet\u00ebr doli pran\u00eb luft\u00ebtar\u00ebve dhe u dha fitoren. Katolikoni i par\u00eb i manastirit ishte i stilit bizantin me kupol\u00eb dhe kolona, \u200b\u200bpor n\u00eb vitin 1866 u shemb nga nj\u00eb t\u00ebrmet. Tempulli dhe qelit\u00eb e tanishme u nd\u00ebrtuan nga 1833 deri n\u00eb 1836. Ikonostasi i mrekulluesh\u00ebm i mermerit \u00ebsht\u00eb b\u00ebr\u00eb n\u00eb vitin 1852 nga nj\u00eb skulptor i aft\u00eb nga Tinosi. Brenda tempullit ruhet thesari i panteonit t\u00eb manastirit, ikona mrekullib\u00ebr\u00ebse e Hyjlind\u00ebs, Zonj\u00ebs s\u00eb Vjet\u00ebr, n\u00eb nj\u00eb fron imponues prej mermeri. Ekziston edhe nj\u00eb imazh tjet\u00ebr i rrall\u00eb i Hyjlind\u00e8s me mbishkrimin Hyjlind\u00ebsja t\u00eb V\u00ebrtet\u00eb, unik n\u00eb llojin e tij. \u00cbsht\u00eb nj\u00eb vep\u00ebr e shekullit t\u00eb kat\u00ebrmb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb, e cila u pastrua dhe u ruajt me kujdes nga Muzeu Bizantin i Athin\u00ebs n\u00eb fund t\u00eb viteve tet\u00ebdhjet\u00eb. N\u00eb vitin 1943 murgjit u d\u00ebbuan nga manastiri dhe jetuan n\u00eb m\u00ebrgim p\u00ebr nj\u00eb vit n\u00eb Paleomonastir.
