N\u00eb nj\u00eb lart\u00ebsi prej nj\u00ebmij\u00eb e gjasht\u00ebdhjet\u00eb e tre metra, e nd\u00ebrtuar n\u00eb shpatin e thepisur t\u00eb malit, dominonte p\u00ebr shekuj mbi Trebizond. Dikur u shkat\u00ebrrua plot\u00ebsisht nga grabit\u00ebsit dhe m\u00eb pas Osh\u00ebnar Christoforos e Trebizondit e rind\u00ebrtoi rreth vitit 644 pas Krishtit. Rreth manastirit u rind\u00ebrtuan kisha t\u00eb vogla kushtuar shenjtor\u00ebve t\u00eb ndrysh\u00ebm, nd\u00ebrsa funksiononin edhe biblioteka dhe hap\u00ebsira t\u00eb tjera funksionale. Fama e saj u p\u00ebrhap n\u00eb t\u00eb gjith\u00eb Lindjen dhe t\u00ebrhoqi besimtar\u00eb t\u00eb panum\u00ebrt nga \u00e7do cep i perandoris\u00eb. Nj\u00eb vend i ve\u00e7ant\u00eb n\u00eb historin\u00eb e manastirit i p\u00ebrket perandorit Aleksi i Tret\u00eb, t\u00eb cilin Megalochari e shp\u00ebtoi nga nj\u00eb mbytje e tmerrshme anijeje n\u00eb nj\u00eb stuhi t\u00eb eg\u00ebr. N\u00eb shenj\u00eb mir\u00ebnjohjeje, perandori fortifikoi mir\u00eb manastirin, nd\u00ebrtoi kulla dhe qeli t\u00eb reja dhe rinovoi nd\u00ebrtesat e vjetra. Ai i dha asaj dyzet e tet\u00eb fshatra t\u00eb t\u00ebra dhe vendosi dyzet roje t\u00eb p\u00ebrhershme p\u00ebr t\u00eb ruajtur hap\u00ebsir\u00ebn e saj t\u00eb shenjt\u00eb. Ai ofroi aq shum\u00eb sa murgjit e shpall\u00ebn at\u00eb Themeluesin e ri dhe shkruan nj\u00eb mbishkrim jambik jasht\u00eb port\u00ebs s\u00eb tempullit. Ky mbishkrim mbijetoi deri n\u00eb vitin 1650 dhe renditi titujt e tij si mbreti besnik dhe i lavdish\u00ebm i gjith\u00eb Lindjes. Sulltan\u00ebt Bajazidi i Dyt\u00eb, Selim i Par\u00eb, Murat i Tret\u00eb, Selim i Dyt\u00eb dhe shum\u00eb t\u00eb tjer\u00eb jan\u00eb t\u00eb sh\u00ebnuar n\u00eb kodik\u00ebt e manastirit si dashamir\u00ebs. Selim i Par\u00eb madje u sh\u00ebrua nga nj\u00eb s\u00ebmundje e r\u00ebnd\u00eb me ndihm\u00ebn e shenjt\u00ebrimit t\u00eb manastirit, sipas tradit\u00ebs. K\u00ebshtu Hyjlind\u00ebse Sumela priti pelegrin\u00eb nga t\u00eb dy bot\u00ebt, t\u00eb krishter\u00eb dhe mysliman\u00eb, gjat\u00eb shekujve t\u00eb tok\u00ebs s\u00eb p\u00ebrbashk\u00ebt.
