Disa dit\u00eb m\u00eb von\u00eb, pagan\u00ebt e pjek\u00ebn t\u00eb gjall\u00eb n\u00eb nj\u00eb tigan hekuri t\u00eb ndezur n\u00eb zem\u00ebr t\u00eb Rom\u00ebs. Pak m\u00eb par\u00eb, Xystos, pap\u00eb i Rom\u00ebs dhe filozof nga Athina, i ishte prer\u00eb koka sepse kishte refuzuar t\u00eb mohonte Krishtin. Para se t\u00eb \u00e7ohej n\u00eb martirizim, Xystos i kishte besuar kryediakonit t\u00eb tij, Laurentius, veglat dhe pron\u00ebn e shenjt\u00eb t\u00eb Kish\u00ebs. Ai e urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb t&#x27;ua shp\u00ebrndante pa hezitim t\u00eb varf\u00ebrve, klerik\u00ebve dhe t\u00eb krishter\u00ebve t\u00eb fshehur t\u00eb qytetit. Laurentius shkonte nat\u00ebn n\u00ebp\u00ebr rrug\u00eb dhe sht\u00ebpi, duke k\u00ebrkuar besimtar\u00ebt e uritur, t\u00eb vejat dhe t\u00eb persekutuarit. Kudo q\u00eb kalonte, ngush\u00ebllonte, lante k\u00ebmb\u00ebt, shp\u00ebrndante buk\u00eb e para, p\u00ebrkrahte me dashuri v\u00ebllez\u00ebrit e tij. Gjat\u00eb atyre persekutimeve, Kisha e Rom\u00ebs jetonte e fshehur n\u00eb shpella, n\u00eb sht\u00ebpit\u00eb e vejushave dhe n\u00eb strehimore t\u00eb n\u00ebndheshme. Ministri i ri mbante mbi supe t\u00eb gjith\u00eb pesh\u00ebn e nj\u00eb Kishe q\u00eb rrjedh gjak p\u00ebr besim. Xystos ishte nj\u00eb filozof nga Athina, p\u00ebrpara se t\u00eb b\u00ebhej dishepull i Krishtit dhe t\u00eb b\u00ebhej peshkop i Rom\u00ebs pas martirizimit t\u00eb Sh\u00ebn Stefanit. Ai u arrestua s\u00eb bashku me dhjak\u00ebt e tij Philicissimus dhe Agapitus, n\u00eb koh\u00ebn kur Valeriani mizor ishte perandor. Kur Laurenti e pa duke e \u00e7uar n\u00eb burg, vrapoi drejt tij me lot dhe i thirri me dhimbje t\u00eb madhe. E pyeti se ku po shkonte pa djalin e tij, ku po nxitonte pa kryedhjakun e tij, i cili i q\u00ebndronte gjithmon\u00eb pran\u00eb. Xystos me qet\u00ebsi iu p\u00ebrgjigj se nuk po e braktiste, por po e shp\u00ebtonte p\u00ebr nj\u00eb luft\u00eb m\u00eb t\u00eb madhe dhe m\u00eb t\u00eb lavdishme. Ai i profetizoi atij se tre dit\u00eb pas vdekjes s\u00eb tij, Laurentius do t\u00eb ndiqte t\u00eb nj\u00ebjt\u00ebn rrug\u00eb martirizimi. Ushtar\u00ebt e \u00e7uan peshkopin dhe dhjak\u00ebt e tij n\u00eb tempullin e Marsit, jasht\u00eb mureve t\u00eb qytetit. Kryedhiakoni k\u00ebrkoi nj\u00eb afat prej tre dit\u00ebsh, p\u00ebr t\u00eb mbledhur gjith\u00e7ka q\u00eb mbante n\u00ebn p\u00ebrgjegj\u00ebsin\u00eb e tij. Gjat\u00eb k\u00ebtyre dit\u00ebve ai mblodhi t\u00eb verb\u00ebr, \u00e7al\u00eb, lyp\u00ebs, t\u00eb veja dhe jetim\u00eb nga e gjith\u00eb Roma. Kur i paraqiti para prefektit, tha me sarkaz\u00ebm se k\u00ebto ishin thesaret e v\u00ebrteta t\u00eb Kish\u00ebs s\u00eb Krishtit. Valeriani u t\u00ebrbua nga neveria e tij dhe urdh\u00ebroi t&#x27;ia dor\u00ebzonin rojtarit t\u00eb burgut Hipolitit. Brenda burgut, shenjtori i dha drit\u00eb nj\u00eb t\u00eb burgosuri t\u00eb verb\u00ebr, Lucillio, me fuqin\u00eb e Kryqit. Hipoliti u shtang nga mrekullia dhe k\u00ebrkoi t\u00eb dinte p\u00ebr thesaret, t\u00eb cilat i habit\u00ebn aq shum\u00eb t\u00eb gjith\u00eb. Laurenti e m\u00ebsoi me durim, e \u00e7oi n\u00eb besim dhe pag\u00ebzoi n\u00ebnt\u00ebmb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb njer\u00ebz n\u00eb sht\u00ebpin\u00eb e tij. E gjith\u00eb familja e rojtarit t\u00eb burgut u b\u00eb e krishter\u00eb dhe ai vet\u00eb pa n\u00eb nj\u00eb vegim shpirtrat e shenjt\u00eb q\u00eb g\u00ebzoheshin n\u00eb qiell. Atje ai e kuptoi se \u00e7far\u00eb do t\u00eb thot\u00eb thesari i v\u00ebrtet\u00eb p\u00ebr besimtar\u00ebt. Kur e soll\u00ebn p\u00ebrs\u00ebri para perandorit, Lorenci refuzoi me vendosm\u00ebri t\u00eb flijonte p\u00ebr idhujt e Rom\u00ebs. M\u00eb pas filluan torturat e tmerrshme, me shkopinj, me kamxhik dhe me pllaka hekuri t\u00eb nxehta n\u00eb an\u00ebt e tij. Nj\u00eb ushtar i quajtur Romanus pa pran\u00eb d\u00ebshmorit nj\u00eb t\u00eb ri t\u00eb ndritur, t\u00eb veshur me drit\u00eb, duke fshir\u00eb plag\u00ebt e trupit t\u00eb tij. I tronditur, ai rr\u00ebfeu menj\u00ebher\u00eb Krishtin, u pag\u00ebzua nga shenjtori dhe iu pre koka jasht\u00eb mureve t\u00eb qytetit. T\u00eb nes\u00ebrmen, xhelat\u00ebt soll\u00ebn n\u00eb gjykat\u00eb nj\u00eb gril\u00eb t\u00eb madhe hekuri, me qymyr t\u00eb ndezur posht\u00eb. Ata e zhvesh\u00ebn Laurentius dhe e vendos\u00ebn mbi t\u00eb, p\u00ebr ta gatuar ngadal\u00eb deri n\u00eb vdekje. Ai, n\u00eb mes t\u00eb dhimbjeve t\u00eb tmerrshme, p\u00ebrl\u00ebvdoi Zotin, sikur t\u00eb ishte n\u00eb nj\u00eb tryez\u00eb t\u00eb shenjt\u00eb dashurie. Me qet\u00ebsi i tha perandorit se nj\u00ebra an\u00eb e trupit ishte e pjekur dhe e nxiti ta kthente. Ai e fal\u00ebnderoi Krishtin q\u00eb e kualifikoi p\u00ebr t\u00eb kaluar n\u00ebp\u00ebr portat e mbret\u00ebris\u00eb s\u00eb tij qiellore. Me k\u00ebto fjal\u00eb ai ia dor\u00ebzoi n\u00eb paqe shpirtin e tij t\u00eb shenjt\u00eb Zotit. Hipoliti e mori trupin e d\u00ebshmorit nat\u00ebn dhe e mb\u00ebshtolli me parfume dhe nj\u00eb qefin t\u00eb past\u00ebr. S\u00eb bashku me plakun Justini, ai e \u00e7oi lipsanin e ndersh\u00ebm n\u00eb sht\u00ebpin\u00eb e nj\u00eb vejushe t\u00eb devotshme, q\u00eb quhej e diel. Po at\u00eb nat\u00eb, t\u00eb krishter\u00ebt u mblodh\u00ebn atje me lot, agj\u00ebrim dhe lutje p\u00ebr kryediakonin e tyre t\u00eb dashur.
