Ai u b\u00eb nj\u00eb bujk i p\u00ebrulur n\u00eb fshatin Sh\u00ebn Joani t\u00eb Faistos dhe m\u00eb n\u00eb fund p\u00ebsoi nj\u00eb martirizim t\u00eb tmerrsh\u00ebm p\u00ebr besimin e tij n\u00eb Krishtin. Origjina e tij shqiptare i dha pseudonimin Arnautogiannis, pasi shqiptar\u00ebt quheshin Arnaut n\u00eb gjuh\u00ebn turke t\u00eb asaj kohe. Pas pag\u00ebzimit gjeti streh\u00eb n\u00eb fshatin e vog\u00ebl t\u00eb Mesar\u00ebs dhe u vendos aty n\u00eb m\u00ebnyr\u00eb modeste dhe t\u00eb qet\u00eb. Ai jetoi nj\u00eb jet\u00eb t\u00eb devotshme dhe nderuese, duke ushtruar profesionin e p\u00ebrulur t\u00eb argjendarit p\u00ebr t\u00eb siguruar nevojat e jet\u00ebs s\u00eb tij t\u00eb p\u00ebrditshme. Ai ruante vazhdimisht arat e fshatar\u00ebve dhe fitoi besimin e t\u00eb krishter\u00ebve q\u00eb shihnin tek ai nj\u00eb v\u00eblla t\u00eb v\u00ebrtet\u00eb. Por osman\u00ebt e rajonit nuk e kishin falur at\u00eb q\u00eb braktisi fen\u00eb myslimane dhe u b\u00eb i krishter\u00eb. Urrejtja e tyre ziente n\u00eb fsheht\u00ebsi dhe prisnin vet\u00ebm rastin e duhur p\u00ebr t\u00eb shp\u00ebrthyer kund\u00ebr neofitit besnik. Mund\u00ebsia erdhi shpejt, kur disa rebel\u00eb vran\u00eb dy cigan\u00eb turq n\u00eb nj\u00eb koh\u00eb t\u00eb trazuar n\u00eb Kret\u00eb. Osman\u00ebt e denoncuan Joaniin para autoriteteve laike si vras\u00ebs t\u00eb dy cigan\u00ebve turq, megjith\u00ebse ai ishte plot\u00ebsisht i pafajsh\u00ebm p\u00ebr krimin. Madje, ata shtuan se pasi nd\u00ebrroi fen\u00eb e tij ai ishte n\u00eb gjendje t\u00eb shfaroste \u00e7do mysliman t\u00eb zon\u00ebs p\u00ebr arsye fanatizmi. K\u00ebshtu dragua e p\u00ebrulur u arrestua dhe u d\u00ebrgua rob n\u00eb Heraklion, ku priste nj\u00eb gjyq para autoriteteve osmane. Kur martiri ia dor\u00ebzoi shpirtin Zotit, Pasha urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb trupi i tij t&#x27;u jepej t\u00eb krishter\u00ebve p\u00ebr varrim. Besimtar\u00ebt e prit\u00ebn me nderim dhe e varros\u00ebn n\u00eb Spitalia, n\u00eb zon\u00ebn p\u00ebrreth Sh\u00ebrbimit t\u00eb vjet\u00ebr Sh\u00ebndet\u00ebsor t\u00eb Heraklionit. Kalendari tregonte t\u00eb shtun\u00ebn e pest\u00eb maj, tet\u00ebmb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb e dyzet e pes\u00eb pas Krishtit, dhe t\u00eb krishter\u00ebt shp\u00ebrthyen n\u00eb pik\u00ebllim dhe indinjat\u00eb. Si\u00e7 d\u00ebshmon Stefanos Nikolaidis n\u00eb sh\u00ebnimet e tij biografike, kishte nj\u00eb q\u00ebndrim t\u00eb tmerrsh\u00ebm t\u00eb t\u00eb krishter\u00ebve kund\u00ebr qeveris\u00eb p\u00ebr Arnautogiannis q\u00eb u vra me tortura t\u00eb tmerrshme.
