S\u00eb bashku me m\u00ebsuesin e tij Gregor Dekapolitan dhe Jozef Hymnografin, ai ngriti z\u00ebrin p\u00ebr ikonat e shenjta. Osh\u00ebnar Joani lindi n\u00eb fund t\u00eb shekullit t\u00eb tet\u00eb dhe q\u00eb n\u00eb mosh\u00eb t\u00eb vog\u00ebl e donte Krishtin me gjith\u00eb zem\u00ebr. Ai la bot\u00ebn dhe vrapoi te m\u00ebsuesi i famsh\u00ebm Gregori, n\u00eb nj\u00eb manastir af\u00ebr Selanikut, ku mori form\u00ebn engj\u00ebllore. Atje ai iu dor\u00ebzua bindjes dhe ushtrimeve me nj\u00eb past\u00ebrti shpirti t\u00eb till\u00eb, saq\u00eb i habiti edhe baballar\u00ebt me p\u00ebrvoj\u00eb. Posht\u00ebrimi i tij u b\u00eb proverbial n\u00eb t\u00eb gjith\u00eb rrethin\u00ebn e plakut. Vet\u00eb Sh\u00ebn Gregori, duke par\u00eb p\u00ebrparimin e tij, u g\u00ebzua thell\u00eb dhe lavd\u00ebroi Zotin p\u00ebr dishepullin e ri. Ai pa te Joanii nj\u00eb vazhdim\u00ebsi t\u00eb v\u00ebrtet\u00eb t\u00eb tradit\u00ebs s\u00eb hesikast\u00ebve. Me kalimin e viteve, murgu i ri arriti nj\u00eb lart\u00ebsi t\u00eb p\u00ebrsosm\u00ebris\u00eb shpirt\u00ebrore q\u00eb rrall\u00eb gjendej. M\u00ebsuesi e kuptoi se nx\u00ebn\u00ebsi ishte b\u00ebr\u00eb tashm\u00eb nj\u00eb shtyll\u00eb dhe mb\u00ebshtetje e shtetit t\u00eb tyre monastik. Kur perandori i pabes\u00eb Leo Armeni ringjalli herezin\u00eb e ikonoklasizmit, ai ngriti nj\u00eb persekutim t\u00eb ri kund\u00ebr Kish\u00ebs s\u00eb Krishtit. Pastaj Osh\u00ebnar Grigori, s\u00eb bashku me Jozef Himnografin dhe dishepullin besnik Joani, u nis\u00ebn nga Selaniku dhe mb\u00ebrrit\u00ebn n\u00eb Vasilevoussa. Ata shkuan n\u00ebp\u00ebr rrug\u00ebt dhe kishat e qytetit, duke mb\u00ebshtetur ortodoks\u00ebt dhe duke forcuar shpirtrat e p\u00ebrndjekur. Ata i k\u00ebrkuan besimtar\u00ebt q\u00eb t\u00eb mbahen me energji n\u00eb adhurimin e imazheve t\u00eb shenjta dhe t\u00eb mos t\u00ebrhiqen p\u00ebrball\u00eb k\u00ebrc\u00ebnimeve. Jozefi m\u00eb von\u00eb u nis p\u00ebr n\u00eb Rom\u00eb, por gjat\u00eb rrug\u00ebs u arrestua nga heretik\u00ebt dhe u fut n\u00eb burg n\u00eb Kret\u00eb. Osh\u00ebnar Grigori dhe dishepulli i tij Joanii vazhduan t\u00eb q\u00ebndronin n\u00eb k\u00ebmb\u00eb n\u00eb stuhin\u00eb e persekutimit. Ata pa frik\u00eb predikonin t\u00eb v\u00ebrtet\u00ebn e besimit, pa marr\u00eb parasysh rreziqet, m\u00ebrgimet apo vdekjen. P\u00ebr shum\u00eb vite k\u00ebta dy rr\u00ebfimtar\u00eb e mbrojt\u00ebn Ortodoksin\u00eb me zjarr dhe dashuri. Ata i m\u00ebsuan njer\u00ebzit p\u00ebr r\u00ebnd\u00ebsin\u00eb e imazheve dhe p\u00ebr kuptimin e thell\u00eb t\u00eb mish\u00ebrimit t\u00eb Fjal\u00ebs s\u00eb Per\u00ebndis\u00eb. Por p\u00ebrndjekja nuk e shuan flak\u00ebn e shpirtit t\u00eb tyre as p\u00ebr asnj\u00eb \u00e7ast. Pas shum\u00eb mundimesh e dhimbjesh, Osh\u00ebnar Gregori Dekapolit ia dor\u00ebzoi shpirtin Zotit, rreth tet\u00ebqind e nj\u00ebzet. Dishepulli besnik Joanii q\u00ebndroi n\u00eb Vasilevousa dhe vazhdoi t\u00eb nj\u00ebjt\u00ebn m\u00ebnyr\u00eb jetese, me lutje, agj\u00ebrim dhe kujdes t\u00eb pand\u00ebrprer\u00eb p\u00ebr njer\u00ebzit. Ai nuk po luftonte vet\u00ebm p\u00ebr shp\u00ebtimin e tij, por edhe p\u00ebr shp\u00ebtimin e atyre q\u00eb i afroheshin. Pak koh\u00eb m\u00eb von\u00eb, i bekuari Jozef Himnograf u lirua nga burgu dhe u kthye n\u00eb Kostandinopoj\u00eb. Ai kishte mall p\u00ebr m\u00ebsuesin e tij t\u00eb dashur Gregorin, por e gjeti at\u00eb tashm\u00eb n\u00eb gjum\u00eb. Ajo qau me hidh\u00ebrim, sepse nuk e meritonte ta shihte m\u00eb n\u00eb k\u00ebt\u00eb jet\u00eb. Por ai q\u00ebndroi pran\u00eb Sh\u00ebn Joaniit, duke gjetur tek ai ngush\u00ebllimin e plakut t\u00eb humbur. Pas pak u nis p\u00ebr te Zoti edhe Osh\u00ebnar Joani, q\u00eb t\u00eb merrte kuror\u00ebn e pun\u00ebs s\u00eb tij. Jozefi e varrosi me duart e veta pran\u00eb varrit t\u00eb Sh\u00ebn Grigorit, duke bashkuar n\u00eb vdekje ata q\u00eb ishin bashkuar nga lufta e besimit. M\u00eb von\u00eb Osh\u00ebnar Joseph Hymnographer u t\u00ebrhoq n\u00eb nj\u00eb vend m\u00eb t\u00eb qet\u00eb, pak jasht\u00eb qytetit, pran\u00eb tempullit t\u00eb Sh\u00ebn Joani Gojartit. Atje ai ngriti nj\u00eb tempull p\u00ebr nder t\u00eb Sh\u00ebn Nikoll\u00ebs mrekullib\u00ebr\u00ebs, kryeprift i Myra. Brenda k\u00ebtij tempulli ai mbante me nderim lipsanin e shenjt\u00eb t\u00eb m\u00ebsuesit Gregori dhe dishepullit Joani. K\u00ebshtu dy rr\u00ebfimtar\u00ebt q\u00eb kishin luftuar s\u00eb bashku p\u00ebr ikonat, tani pushuan s\u00eb bashku n\u00eb t\u00eb nj\u00ebjtin vend t\u00eb shenjt\u00eb. Disa t\u00eb moshuar donin ta identifikonin Sh\u00ebn Joaniin me nj\u00eb asket tjet\u00ebr palestinez me t\u00eb nj\u00ebjtin em\u00ebr. Ata than\u00eb se, pas vdekjes s\u00eb m\u00ebsuesit t\u00eb tij, ai u nis p\u00ebr n\u00eb Tok\u00ebn e Shenjt\u00eb dhe ushtrua n\u00eb manastirin e Sh\u00ebn Charitonos. Por realiteti historik tregon di\u00e7ka ndryshe, pasi ai manastir i famsh\u00ebm ishte i braktisur tashm\u00eb nga arab\u00ebt shum\u00eb p\u00ebrpara koh\u00ebs s\u00eb Leo Armenit. Shenjtori i nderuar sot jetoi dhe fjeti n\u00eb Vasilevousa, si\u00e7 d\u00ebshmon qart\u00eb jeta e Sh\u00ebn Jozef Hymnografit.
