Kur shp\u00ebrtheu zem\u00ebrimi i pagan\u00ebve, e fut\u00ebn n\u00eb nj\u00eb shport\u00eb, t\u00eb lyer me mjalt\u00eb dhe uthull, p\u00ebr ta ngr\u00ebn\u00eb grer\u00ebzat n\u00ebn diellin e nxeht\u00eb. Babai yn\u00eb Markos mori shugurimin e peshkopit t\u00eb Arethusis\u00eb n\u00eb Siri, n\u00eb koh\u00ebn e sundimit t\u00eb Sh\u00ebn Konstandinit t\u00eb Madh. I zellsh\u00ebm p\u00ebr t\u00eb v\u00ebrtet\u00ebn e Krishtit, ai luftoi fuqish\u00ebm kund\u00ebr idhujtaris\u00eb dhe i k\u00ebshilloi njer\u00ebzit me fjal\u00eb dhe shembull. N\u00eb vitet e turbullta pas Koncilit t\u00eb Nikes\u00eb, ai u bashkua p\u00ebr nj\u00ebfar\u00eb kohe me peshkop\u00ebt gjysm\u00eb arian\u00eb, t\u00eb cil\u00ebt nuk e mohuan hyjnin\u00eb e Fjal\u00ebs, por hezituan t\u00eb pranojn\u00eb termin &quot;t\u00eb barabart\u00eb&quot;. Peshkopi n\u00eb fillim u t\u00ebrhoq nga qyteti, pasi nuk donte t\u00eb ekspozohej n\u00eb m\u00ebnyr\u00eb t\u00eb panevojshme ndaj persekutimit t\u00eb armiqve t\u00eb tij. Ai madje tallej me veprimet e tyre t\u00eb p\u00ebrulura dhe kujdesin e tyre t\u00eb vazhduesh\u00ebm p\u00ebr gj\u00ebrat q\u00eb prishen n\u00eb tok\u00eb. M\u00eb n\u00eb fund, t\u00eb rraskapitur nga durimi i tij, pagan\u00ebt u dor\u00ebzuan dhe e liruan. Disa prej tyre, t\u00eb prekur thell\u00eb nga trim\u00ebria dhe fjalimet e tij, iu drejtuan Krishtit dhe p\u00ebrqafuan besimin e v\u00ebrtet\u00eb. Ia hap\u00ebn barkun, ia shp\u00ebrndan\u00eb t\u00eb brendshmet n\u00eb tok\u00eb, madje ia h\u00ebngr\u00ebn t\u00eb gjall\u00eb m\u00ebl\u00e7in\u00eb.
