N\u00eb mesin e tyre q\u00ebndronte nj\u00eb abat, i cili madje u dha t\u00eb varf\u00ebrve veshjen e tij t\u00eb vetme dhe vazhdoi rrug\u00ebn lakuriq. Q\u00eb nga f\u00ebmij\u00ebria e tij, Osh\u00ebnar Hilarion mori kryqin e Krishtit dhe ndoqi me zell rrug\u00ebn e vetmuar. Ai kaloi shum\u00eb vite n\u00eb qet\u00ebsi dhe heshtje, duke luftuar pasionet e mishit p\u00ebrmes abstenimit t\u00eb rrept\u00eb dhe lutjes s\u00eb pand\u00ebrprer\u00eb. P\u00ebrul\u00ebsia, dashuria dhe buz\u00ebqeshja e tij e but\u00eb e dalluan at\u00eb mes v\u00ebllez\u00ebrve t\u00eb koh\u00ebs s\u00eb tij. P\u00ebr gjendjen e tij t\u00eb ndritur iu dha posti i presbiterit dhe m\u00eb von\u00eb u em\u00ebrua igumen i manastirit t\u00eb Pelekitit. Manastiri ndodhej n\u00eb Triglia, af\u00ebr Hellispontit, n\u00eb nj\u00eb zon\u00eb t\u00eb bekuar nga shum\u00eb et\u00ebr t\u00eb shenjt\u00eb. Atje ai udh\u00ebhoqi me men\u00e7uri dhe dashuri turm\u00ebn e murgjve q\u00eb ia kishin dor\u00ebzuar jet\u00ebn Krishtit. Jeta e tij ishte nj\u00eb ushtrim i vazhduesh\u00ebm, nj\u00eb vigjilje dhe nj\u00eb flak\u00eb e pashuar lutjeje p\u00ebr mbar\u00eb bot\u00ebn. Zoti i dha sh\u00ebrb\u00ebtorit t\u00eb tij dhurata t\u00eb pasura mendjempreht\u00ebsie dhe mrekullish, t\u00eb cilat zbuluan marr\u00ebzin\u00eb e tij p\u00ebrpara tij. Me fjal\u00ebn e tij largoi nga fushat dhe vreshtat kafsh\u00ebt q\u00eb po shkat\u00ebrronin t\u00eb korrat e banor\u00ebve. Me lutjen e tij ai ndaloi breshrin e fort\u00eb dhe solli shi n\u00eb tok\u00eb kur that\u00ebsira k\u00ebrc\u00ebnoi njer\u00ebzit. Ashtu si profeti Elise, ai ndau uj\u00ebrat e nj\u00eb lumi dhe kaloi p\u00ebr mrekulli. T\u00eb enjten e Madhe t\u00eb vitit shtat\u00ebqind e pes\u00ebdhjet\u00eb e kat\u00ebr, gjenerali Lachanodrakon u v\u00ebrsul papritur n\u00eb manastirin e Pelekitit me nj\u00eb mori ushtar\u00ebsh. Ai me paturp\u00ebsi hyri n\u00eb kish\u00eb gjat\u00eb sh\u00ebrbes\u00ebs hyjnore dhe vazhdoi me t\u00ebrbim n\u00eb hapin e shenjt\u00eb. Ai pushoi s\u00eb k\u00ebnduari dhe hodhi posht\u00eb Misteret e Pap\u00ebrlyera dhe Jet\u00ebdh\u00ebn\u00ebse t\u00eb Krishtit, duke p\u00ebrdhosur t\u00eb Shenjt\u00ebn. M\u00eb pas ai arrestoi dyzet e dy murgj elit\u00eb dhe i lidhi me zinxhir\u00eb t\u00eb r\u00ebnd\u00eb hekuri. Nga pjesa tjet\u00ebr e v\u00ebllez\u00ebrve, disa i plagosi r\u00ebnd\u00eb, t\u00eb tjer\u00ebve ua dogji mjekr\u00ebn pasi i lyeu me katran\u00eb dhe t\u00eb tjer\u00ebve ua preu hund\u00ebt me thik\u00eb. Dyzet e dy baballar\u00ebt e zgjedhur u internuan n\u00eb kufijt\u00eb e Efesit, mes v\u00ebshtir\u00ebsive dhe dhimbjeve t\u00eb padurueshme. Atje i mbylli n\u00eb nj\u00eb banj\u00eb t\u00eb vjet\u00ebr dhe i dor\u00ebzoi n\u00eb nj\u00eb vdekje t\u00eb dhunshme dhe martire p\u00ebr dashurin\u00eb e Krishtit. Nd\u00ebr k\u00ebta rr\u00ebfimtar\u00eb ishte, sipas tradit\u00ebs, Osh\u00ebnar Hilarion si m\u00eb i madhi n\u00eb detyr\u00ebn e abatit. Si shp\u00ebrblim p\u00ebr p\u00ebrpjekjet e tij p\u00ebr virtyt dhe t\u00eb v\u00ebrtet\u00ebn, Zoti e ka lavd\u00ebruar at\u00eb me lavdi t\u00eb p\u00ebrjetshme n\u00eb qiej.
