Para syve t\u00eb musliman\u00ebve ai b\u00ebri kryqin dhe filloi t\u00eb p\u00ebshp\u00ebriste lutjet e krishtera me guxim t\u00eb duksh\u00ebm. Joanii lindi n\u00eb Bullgari n\u00eb vitin 1775, n\u00eb vite t\u00eb v\u00ebshtira p\u00ebr ortodoksin\u00eb dhe t\u00eb krishter\u00ebt e n\u00ebnshtruar. Kujtimi i besimit t\u00eb f\u00ebmij\u00ebris\u00eb dhe lutjet e n\u00ebn\u00ebs e p\u00ebrndiqnin p\u00ebrdit\u00eb n\u00eb fen\u00eb e huaj. Kur ai arriti rreth gjasht\u00ebmb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb vje\u00e7, e v\u00ebrteta u zgjua brenda tij dhe ai u pushtua nga pik\u00ebllimi i thell\u00eb p\u00ebr mohimin e Krishtit. Lot\u00ebt e pendimit e b\u00ebn\u00eb at\u00eb t\u00eb braktiste gjith\u00e7ka dhe t\u00eb k\u00ebrkonte strehim n\u00eb malin Athos. Ai mb\u00ebrriti n\u00eb Lavr\u00ebn e Madhe t\u00eb Agios Athanasi dhe ra n\u00eb k\u00ebmb\u00ebt e nj\u00eb plaku, duke k\u00ebrkuar q\u00eb t\u00eb ishte vart\u00ebs i tij.
