Nj\u00eb Engj\u00ebll i Zotit i ofroi Kungimin e Shenjt\u00eb n\u00eb vend t\u00eb plakut t\u00eb manastirit, pasi shpirti i tij ishte jasht\u00ebzakonisht i past\u00ebr. Osh\u00ebnar Markos lindi n\u00eb Athin\u00eb dhe jetoi rreth shekullit t\u00eb kat\u00ebrt dhe t\u00eb pest\u00eb pas Krishtit. Pasi mori nj\u00eb arsim t\u00eb vlefsh\u00ebm n\u00eb klim\u00ebn filozofike t\u00eb qytetit t\u00eb tij, ai u largua nga Athina dhe shkoi n\u00eb Antioki. Atje studioi te Sh\u00ebn Joani Gojarti, m\u00ebsuesi i madh i Kish\u00ebs. Pas ca koh\u00ebsh u b\u00eb murg dhe u nis p\u00ebr n\u00eb shkret\u00ebtir\u00ebn e Nitrias n\u00eb Egjiptin e Posht\u00ebm, ku n\u00eb at\u00eb koh\u00eb jetonin shum\u00eb asket\u00eb. Q\u00eb n\u00eb rini profesioni i tij i preferuar ishte studimi i Shkrimeve t\u00eb Shenjta me zell dhe p\u00ebrkushtim. Madje, thuhet se ai e dinte p\u00ebrmend\u00ebsh t\u00eb gjith\u00eb Shkrimin e Shenjt\u00eb, pasi kujtimi dhe dashuria e tij p\u00ebr fjal\u00ebn e Zotit ishin t\u00eb admirueshme. K\u00ebshtu ai gradualisht arriti shkall\u00ebn m\u00eb t\u00eb lart\u00eb t\u00eb virtytit p\u00ebrmes studimit, lutjes dhe ushtrimeve. Jeta e shenjtorit u karakterizua nga ngjarje mbres\u00ebl\u00ebn\u00ebse t\u00eb mrekullueshme, t\u00eb cilat zbulojn\u00eb intimitetin q\u00eb ai kishte fituar me hirin e Zotit. Nj\u00eb her\u00eb, teksa po pushonte n\u00eb qeli, iu afrua nj\u00eb hien\u00eb q\u00eb mbante k\u00eblyshin e saj t\u00eb verb\u00ebr. Kafsha e eg\u00ebr q\u00ebndroi para tij n\u00eb nj\u00eb q\u00ebndrim t\u00eb p\u00ebrulur, sikur t\u00eb lutej p\u00ebr verb\u00ebrin\u00eb e f\u00ebmij\u00ebs s\u00eb saj. Osh\u00ebnar e kuptoi menj\u00ebher\u00eb se \u00e7far\u00eb k\u00ebrkonte bisha dhe, me thjesht\u00ebsin\u00eb e shenjtorit, e p\u00ebshtyu n\u00eb sy t\u00eb voglit. Menj\u00ebher\u00eb kafsha gjeti shikimin dhe u largua e lumtur me n\u00ebn\u00ebn e saj. Pas disa dit\u00ebsh hiena erdhi p\u00ebrs\u00ebri te Shenjti, n\u00eb shenj\u00eb fal\u00ebnderimi dhe nd\u00ebshkimi. Ajo e mbajti n\u00eb dh\u00ebmb\u00eb l\u00ebkur\u00ebn e nj\u00eb dash t\u00eb madh, p\u00ebr t&#x27;i shprehur mir\u00ebnjohjen e saj. Por Osh\u00ebnar refuzoi ta pranonte, p\u00ebrve\u00e7 n\u00ebse ai i premtoi m\u00eb par\u00eb se nuk do t&#x27;i d\u00ebmtonte m\u00eb delet e njer\u00ebzve t\u00eb varf\u00ebr t\u00eb rajonit. Premtimi u b\u00eb dhe m\u00eb pas vet\u00ebm Sh\u00ebn e pranoi dhurat\u00ebn e saj. Past\u00ebrtia mendore e shenjtorit ishte aq e madhe sa plaku i manastirit tregoi n\u00ebn betim nj\u00eb ngjarje trondit\u00ebse. Ai tha se ai vet\u00eb nuk i dha kungimin e Shenjt\u00eb Sh\u00ebn Markut me duart e veta. Sa her\u00eb q\u00eb Sh\u00ebn vinte te kupa e shenjt\u00eb, dora e Engj\u00ebllit mbante dar\u00eb dhe e kumtonte. Madje, sh\u00ebrb\u00ebtori i tij d\u00ebshmoi se ai kurr\u00eb nuk e pa Osios t\u00eb p\u00ebshtynte n\u00eb tok\u00eb, e till\u00eb ishte but\u00ebsia e tij. N\u00eb urdhrin e vetmis\u00eb q\u00ebndroi plot dyzet vjet dhe agj\u00ebroi rrept\u00ebsisht p\u00ebr gjasht\u00ebdhjet\u00eb vjet rresht. Ai jetoi si nj\u00eb vetmitar p\u00ebr n\u00ebnt\u00ebdhjet\u00eb vjet n\u00eb heshtje, lutje dhe luft\u00eb t\u00eb pand\u00ebrprer\u00eb t\u00eb virtytit. Ai ia dor\u00ebzoi shpirtin Zotit n\u00eb pleq\u00ebri t\u00eb thell\u00eb, kur plot\u00ebsoi nj\u00ebqind e nj\u00ebzet vjet t\u00eb jet\u00ebs s\u00eb tij tok\u00ebsore. Nga gjithsej tridhjet\u00eb shkrimet e tij, sot mbijetojn\u00eb vet\u00ebm n\u00ebnt\u00eb fjalime, disa letra dhe disa traktate k\u00ebshilluese me vler\u00eb t\u00eb madhe intelektuale.
