Kur ai u arrestua n\u00eb Si\u00e7ili, flak\u00ebt nuk pranuan ta preknin trupin e tij, k\u00ebshtu q\u00eb besimtar\u00ebt mund\u00ebn ta merrnin at\u00eb t\u00eb paprekur. Sh\u00ebn Vavylas vinte nga Antiokia e famshme e Lindjes, nga nj\u00eb familje fisnike, e pasur, e rr\u00ebnjosur thell\u00eb n\u00eb besimin ortodoks. Prind\u00ebrit e tij t\u00eb virtytsh\u00ebm u kujdes\u00ebn q\u00eb ai t\u00eb merrte nj\u00eb arsimim t\u00eb shk\u00eblqyer dhe studionin me zell Shkrimet e Shenjta, t\u00eb cilat gjithmon\u00eb e \u00e7ojn\u00eb shpirtin te Zoti. Q\u00eb n\u00eb rinin\u00eb e tij ai e deshi Krishtin me gjith\u00eb zem\u00ebr dhe u largua nga kot\u00ebsia e bot\u00ebs pa hezitim. Pas vdekjes s\u00eb prind\u00ebrve, ai ua dha menj\u00ebher\u00eb pasurin\u00eb e tij t\u00eb varf\u00ebrve dhe jetim\u00ebve t\u00eb qytetit. Tani i lir\u00eb nga \u00e7do kujdes p\u00ebr jet\u00ebn, ai u t\u00ebrhoq n\u00eb nj\u00eb mal t\u00eb qet\u00eb s\u00eb bashku me dy dishepuj besnik\u00eb, Agapius dhe Timotheus. Aty kaluan vite t\u00eb t\u00ebra n\u00eb agj\u00ebrim, n\u00eb lutje t\u00eb pand\u00ebrprer\u00eb dhe n\u00eb heshtje t\u00eb rrept\u00eb asketike. Pas presionit t\u00eb vazhduesh\u00ebm nga v\u00ebllez\u00ebrit, ai me ngurrim pranoi t\u00eb shugurohej plak dhe nderoi hirin e prift\u00ebris\u00eb. Kur pagan\u00ebt fanatik\u00eb k\u00ebrkuan q\u00eb ai t&#x27;u dor\u00ebzohej autoriteteve, ai u largua nga Roma me dishepujt e tij besnik\u00eb. Shum\u00eb pagan\u00eb lan\u00eb idhujt dhe p\u00ebrqafuan me g\u00ebzim t\u00eb v\u00ebrtet\u00ebn e Krishtit. Fama e veprimtaris\u00eb s\u00eb tij misionare arriti shpejt n\u00eb vesh\u00ebt e komandantit t\u00eb ishullit. Ai, i t\u00ebrbuar nga moria e konvertimeve, urdh\u00ebroi menj\u00ebher\u00eb arrestimin e shenjtorit bashk\u00eb me dy dishepujt e tij. Ai i mori n\u00eb pyetje me mizori dhe u p\u00ebrpoq n\u00eb \u00e7do m\u00ebnyr\u00eb t&#x27;i bindte nga rr\u00ebfimi i Krishtit. Por fjal\u00ebt e tij ran\u00eb n\u00eb vesh t\u00eb shurdh\u00ebr, pasi tre sportist\u00ebt e besimit q\u00ebndruan t\u00eb pal\u00ebkundur p\u00ebrball\u00eb k\u00ebrc\u00ebnimeve t\u00eb tiranit. Komandanti, duke mos vuajtur guximin e tyre, i n\u00ebnshtroi me fshikullime publike dhe tortura t\u00eb tmerrshme n\u00eb shesh. Madje ai urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb t\u00eb parakaloheshin nga qyteti n\u00eb qytet n\u00eb Si\u00e7ili, t\u00eb mbuluar me gjak, p\u00ebr t\u00eb terrorizuar vendasit. K\u00ebshtu ai donte t\u00eb pengonte ata q\u00eb kishin filluar t\u00eb t\u00ebrhiqeshin nga predikimi dhe jeta e tre shenjtor\u00ebve. Por plani i tij u shkat\u00ebrrua nga mizoria dhe turpi i tij.
