Episkopi Athinagjeni, pak para se t&#8217;i prehej koka, d\u00ebgjoi nj\u00eb z\u00eb nga qielli q\u00eb i premtonte Parajs\u00ebn me dhjet\u00eb dishepujt e tij. Kujtimi i tij festohet n\u00eb gjasht\u00ebmb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb korrik dhe lidhet me epok\u00ebn mizore t\u00eb perandorit t\u00eb pabes\u00eb Dioklecianit. At\u00ebher\u00eb p\u00ebrndjekja ndaj t\u00eb krishter\u00ebve ishte aq e ashp\u00ebr sa edhe t\u00eb af\u00ebrmit e tradhtuan nj\u00ebri-tjetrin nga frika e Cezarit. Nj\u00eb sundimtar i caktuar i quajtur Filomarchus mb\u00ebrriti n\u00eb qytetin armen t\u00eb Sebastia dhe urdh\u00ebroi nj\u00eb flijim publik p\u00ebr idhujt. Ai mblodhi nj\u00eb mori prift\u00ebrinjsh me kurora n\u00eb kok\u00eb dhe urdh\u00ebroi t&#8217;u binin borive, cembaleve dhe fyelleve p\u00ebr nder t\u00eb per\u00ebndive t\u00eb tij t\u00eb rreme. Lajm\u00ebtari u thirri njer\u00ebzve q\u00eb t&#8217;i bindeshin urdhrit mbret\u00ebror dhe t&#8217;u b\u00ebnin fli per\u00ebndive. Por banor\u00ebt e Sebastias, shumica e tyre t\u00eb krishter\u00eb, refuzuan me nj\u00eb z\u00eb t\u00eb adhuronin idhujt. Sundimtari u t\u00ebrbua dhe urdh\u00ebroi ushtar\u00ebt e tij t\u00eb masakrojn\u00eb ata q\u00eb i rezistuan fest\u00ebs blasfemuese. Shum\u00eb besimtar\u00eb pranuan at\u00eb dit\u00eb kuror\u00ebn e martirizimit dhe kaluan me g\u00ebzim n\u00eb tabernakullet qiellore. Pas masakr\u00ebs, nj\u00eb oficer i quajtur Nikolaos iu afrua sundimtarit dhe foli me urrejtje p\u00ebr peshkopin Athenogenis. Ai i tha se Sh\u00ebn jetonte n\u00eb fshatin Pidachthoi dhe po t\u00ebrhiqte shum\u00eb njer\u00ebz n\u00eb besimin e Krishtit. Filomarchus d\u00ebrgoi menj\u00ebher\u00eb ushtar\u00eb p\u00ebr t\u00eb arrestuar peshkopin dhe p\u00ebr ta sjell\u00eb at\u00eb t\u00eb lidhur n\u00eb Sebastia. Pran\u00eb fshatit ishte nj\u00eb manastir i vog\u00ebl, ku Sh\u00ebn ushtrohej me dhjet\u00eb nga nx\u00ebn\u00ebsit e tij n\u00eb agj\u00ebrim dhe lutje t\u00eb pand\u00ebrprer\u00eb. Kur erdh\u00ebn ushtar\u00ebt, nuk e gjet\u00ebn plakun, sepse ishte nisur p\u00ebr ndonj\u00eb sh\u00ebrbes\u00eb jasht\u00eb manastirit. Pastaj i lidh\u00ebn t\u00eb dhjet\u00eb dishepujt dhe i \u00e7uan me hekura n\u00eb qytet p\u00ebrpara gjykat\u00ebsit. Sundimtari urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb ata t\u00eb futeshin n\u00eb burg me zinxhir\u00eb t\u00eb r\u00ebnd\u00eb dhe t\u00eb ruheshin rrept\u00ebsisht nat\u00eb e dit\u00eb. M\u00eb pas ai urdh\u00ebroi njer\u00ebzit e tij t\u00eb k\u00ebrkonin kudo derisa t\u00eb gjenin vet\u00eb m\u00ebsuesin. Ushtar\u00ebt u shp\u00ebrndan\u00eb n\u00ebp\u00ebr zonat p\u00ebrreth duke e k\u00ebrkuar me k\u00ebmb\u00ebngulje. Sh\u00ebn Athinogenes, sapo u kthye n\u00eb manastir dhe pa qelin\u00eb e zbraz\u00ebt t\u00eb nx\u00ebn\u00ebs\u00ebve t\u00eb tij, hyri n\u00eb tempull me lot. Ai shikoi kryqin e ndersh\u00ebm dhe pyeti me zem\u00ebrthyerje se ku ishin f\u00ebmij\u00ebt q\u00eb i kishte besuar Zotit. At\u00ebher\u00eb nj\u00eb dre i zbutur vrapoi drejt tij, t\u00eb cilin ai e kishte ushqyer si f\u00ebmij\u00eb dhe filloi t&#8217;i l\u00ebpij\u00eb duart me but\u00ebsi. Pak m\u00eb von\u00eb ai takoi nj\u00eb fshatar t\u00eb njohur, i cili i zbuloi se ushtar\u00ebt kishin kapur nx\u00ebn\u00ebs\u00ebt p\u00ebr t&#8217;i torturuar. Sh\u00ebn lavd\u00ebroi Zotin, sepse e kuptoi se dishepujt e tij ishin t\u00eb ftuar n\u00eb tryez\u00ebn qiellore. Ai e ktheu drerin n\u00eb shkret\u00ebtir\u00eb dhe marshoi me gjith\u00eb zem\u00ebr n\u00eb Sebasteia p\u00ebr t&#8217;u q\u00ebndruar pran\u00eb tyre. Ai q\u00ebndroi para gjykat\u00ebsit dhe b\u00ebrtiti se tirani kishte pla\u00e7kitur Kish\u00ebn e tij dhe do t\u00eb gjykohej nga Zoti. Ushtar\u00ebt e t\u00ebrhoq\u00ebn menj\u00ebher\u00eb zvarr\u00eb para sundimtarit, i cili urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb ta mbyllnin n\u00eb t\u00eb nj\u00ebjtin burg me dishepujt e tij. Sh\u00ebn i p\u00ebrqafoi me g\u00ebzim bijt\u00eb e tij shpirt\u00ebror\u00eb dhe i forcoi p\u00ebr luft\u00ebn e ardhshme. Ai u tha atyre q\u00eb t\u00eb mos ken\u00eb frik\u00eb nga k\u00ebrc\u00ebnimet dhe t\u00eb p\u00ebrgatisin shpirtrat e tyre p\u00ebr mbret\u00ebrin\u00eb. T\u00eb nes\u00ebrmen tirani u ul n\u00eb foltore dhe k\u00ebrkoi q\u00eb Peshkopi ta sillnin para tij me dhjet\u00eb dishepujt. Ai i urdh\u00ebroi ata t\u00eb b\u00ebjn\u00eb flijime p\u00ebr idhujt, p\u00ebrndryshe do t\u00eb humbnin jet\u00ebn n\u00eb tortura mizore. Sh\u00ebn Athinogenes iu p\u00ebrgjigj me sarkaz\u00ebm se ata q\u00eb u vran\u00eb dje nuk jan\u00eb t\u00eb humbur, por po g\u00ebzohen n\u00eb qiej me engj\u00ebjt. Kur sundimtari e nxiti p\u00ebrs\u00ebri t\u00eb bindej, Sh\u00ebn e quajti at\u00eb nj\u00eb tiran t\u00eb paligjsh\u00ebm dhe u deklarua i gatsh\u00ebm t\u00eb duronte gjith\u00e7ka p\u00ebr Zotin. At\u00ebher\u00eb Filomarchus urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb t\u00eb dhjet\u00eb dishepujt t\u00eb vareshin t\u00eb zhveshur n\u00eb nj\u00eb lis dhe t&#8217;u grisnin mishin me gozhd\u00eb hekuri. Ata rr\u00ebfyen me dhimbje se nuk do ta mohonin kurr\u00eb Despotin Krishtin. Duke par\u00eb zot\u00ebsin\u00eb e tyre t\u00eb patundur, tirani urdh\u00ebroi t&#8217;i prisnin kok\u00ebn nga shpata. Dishepujt e shenjt\u00eb dhan\u00eb shpirtin e tyre n\u00eb lavdi dhe kaluan me lavdi n\u00eb tabernakullet qiellore. At\u00ebher\u00eb sundimtari iu drejtua peshkopit dhe e pyeti me ironi se ku ishte Krishti i tij. Ai urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb edhe ai t\u00eb vareshin lakuriq n\u00eb pem\u00eb dhe ta rrihnin pa m\u00ebshir\u00eb. Sh\u00ebn, mes t\u00eb rrahurave, lavd\u00ebroi Zotin q\u00eb e meritonte t\u00eb vuante p\u00ebr emrin e tij. Kur e zbrit\u00ebn nga pema, xhelat\u00ebt po i shtypnin brinj\u00ebt me vegla hekuri, por ai k\u00ebrkoi ndihm\u00ebn e Zotit. Pastaj nj\u00eb z\u00eb hyjnor u d\u00ebgjua nga lart q\u00eb i thoshte t\u00eb zgjedhurit t\u00eb saj t\u00eb kishte guxim, sepse Zoti ishte pran\u00eb tij. Vet\u00eb xhelat\u00ebt e d\u00ebgjuan z\u00ebrin dhe duart e tyre ngrin\u00eb n\u00eb pamund\u00ebsi p\u00ebr t\u00eb vazhduar. Nj\u00eb mik i sundimtarit, Filipi, i p\u00ebshp\u00ebriti se t\u00eb krishter\u00ebt jan\u00eb magjistar\u00eb dhe i k\u00ebrkoi q\u00eb t\u00eb p\u00ebrfundonte shpejt me Shenjtorin. Tirani urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb d\u00ebshmori t\u00eb vritet me shpat\u00eb, por Episkopi k\u00ebrkoi q\u00eb t&#8217;i pritej koka brenda manastirit t\u00eb tij t\u00eb dashur. Sundimtari e pranoi k\u00ebrkes\u00ebn dhe ua dor\u00ebzoi ushtar\u00ebve p\u00ebr udh\u00ebtimin e fundit. Rrug\u00ebs Sh\u00ebn k\u00ebndoi vargje nga psalmet e Davidiit dhe u g\u00ebzua p\u00ebr takimin e af\u00ebrt me Zotin. Pran\u00eb manastirit, dreri i zbutur e takoi p\u00ebrs\u00ebri dhe i ra n\u00eb k\u00ebmb\u00eb me lot. Sh\u00ebn i premtoi se Zoti do ta mbronte at\u00eb dhe pasardh\u00ebsit e tij nga duart e gjahtar\u00ebve. Por ai i k\u00ebrkoi atij \u00e7do vit, n\u00eb dit\u00ebn e kujtimit t\u00eb tij, t\u00eb kthehej atje p\u00ebr t\u00eb nderuar Zotin me p\u00ebrkushtimin e tij. Ai e vulosi drerin me shenj\u00ebn e kryqit dhe e d\u00ebrgoi p\u00ebrs\u00ebri n\u00eb shkret\u00ebtir\u00eb n\u00eb paqe. Duke hyr\u00eb n\u00eb manastirin e tij, Sh\u00ebn u gjunj\u00ebzua dhe iu lut Zotit q\u00eb t&#8217;i merrte shpirtin dhe ta bashkonte me dishepujt e tij. Ai k\u00ebrkoi gjithashtu nj\u00eb bekim t\u00eb pasur p\u00ebr ata q\u00eb nderojn\u00eb kujtimin e tij dhe th\u00ebrrasin emrin e tij me dashuri dhe besim. Nd\u00ebrsa lutej, i nj\u00ebjti z\u00eb hyjnor u d\u00ebgjua nga qielli duke i premtuar Parajs\u00eb me dishepujt e tij. D\u00ebshmori u mbush me g\u00ebzim dhe me g\u00ebzim uli kok\u00ebn n\u00ebn shpat\u00eb. K\u00ebshtu ai ia dor\u00ebzoi shpirtin Zotit dhe u b\u00eb pjestar i lavdis\u00eb s\u00eb shenjtor\u00ebve. Besimtar\u00ebt i varros\u00ebn me nder eshtrat e tij n\u00eb t\u00eb nj\u00ebjtin vend dhe mblidheshin \u00e7do vit p\u00ebr t\u00eb kremtuar kujtimin e tij. Dreri i zbutur vinte me besnik\u00ebri \u00e7do her\u00eb, duke sjell\u00eb me vete nj\u00eb nga t\u00eb vegjlit e tij.
