Nj\u00eb zot i pasur pers la atdheun e tij dhe udh\u00ebtoi p\u00ebr n\u00eb Rom\u00eb me gruan dhe dy f\u00ebmij\u00ebt e tij p\u00ebr nj\u00eb q\u00ebllim. Ata donin t\u00eb adhuronin varret e apostujve t\u00eb shenjt\u00eb Pjet\u00ebr dhe Pal, n\u00eb koh\u00ebn kur perandori Klaudi shfarosi pa m\u00ebshir\u00eb t\u00eb krishter\u00ebt. Sh\u00ebn Marinus vinte nga nj\u00eb familje e famshme persiane dhe ishte djali i Maromeus, sundimtari i par\u00eb pas mbretit t\u00eb Persis\u00eb. Dyqind e gjasht\u00ebdhjet\u00eb t\u00eb krishter\u00eb u d\u00ebnuan t\u00eb g\u00ebrmojn\u00eb dhe n\u00eb af\u00ebrsi t\u00eb rrug\u00ebs Salaria, n\u00eb punishtet e qeramik\u00ebs jasht\u00eb qytetit. Perandori urdh\u00ebroi ushtar\u00ebt q\u00eb t’i pushkatonin t\u00eb gjith\u00eb n\u00eb turm\u00eb dhe t’i digjnin eshtrat. Kur Marinus dhe Marta m\u00ebsuan p\u00ebr ngjarjen e trishtuar, u pik\u00eblluan thell\u00eb dhe k\u00ebrkuan nj\u00eb m\u00ebnyr\u00eb p\u00ebr t\u00eb ndihmuar. T\u00eb shoq\u00ebruar nga plaku Joani shkuan nat\u00ebn n\u00eb vendin e masakr\u00ebs dhe fshehtas i hoq\u00ebn nga zjarri trupat gjysm\u00eb t\u00eb djegur. Shenjtori ishte therur me thika dhe trupi i tij ishte hedhur n\u00eb uj\u00ebrat e lumit Tiber. Prit\u00ebn q\u00eb t\u00eb binte err\u00ebsira, k\u00ebrkuan trupin n\u00eb lum\u00eb dhe me nderim e varros\u00ebn n\u00eb varrin e Pontianusit. Gjat\u00eb kthimit, nat\u00ebn d\u00ebgjuan k\u00ebng\u00eb nga nj\u00eb sht\u00ebpi pran\u00eb lumit. Ata ishin t\u00eb krishter\u00eb t\u00eb mbledhur rreth peshkopit Kalisti, i cili mbajti vigjilenc\u00eb dhe lavd\u00ebroi Zotin. Ata trokit\u00ebn n\u00eb der\u00eb me g\u00ebzim, por ata q\u00eb ishin brenda hezituan, nga frika se mos ishin persekutues pagan\u00eb. At\u00ebher\u00eb peshkopi tha me guxim se Krishti po troket n\u00eb der\u00eb dhe ata duhet t’ia hapin pa hezitim. Ai e hapi vet\u00eb dhe familja u gjunj\u00ebzua duke k\u00ebrkuar bekimin e tij. Ata q\u00ebndruan dy muaj pran\u00eb besimtar\u00ebve, t\u00eb fshehur dit\u00ebn dhe nat\u00ebn mblidheshin n\u00eb namaz. N\u00eb t\u00eb nj\u00ebjt\u00ebn koh\u00eb, perandori solli n\u00eb pallatin e tij plakun e nderuar Valentin, p\u00ebr ta pyetur p\u00ebr besimin e tij n\u00eb Zotin e v\u00ebrtet\u00eb. Sh\u00ebn Valentini foli me guxim dhe i zbuloi Klaudit dhurat\u00ebn e besimit t\u00eb v\u00ebrtet\u00eb n\u00eb Krishtin. Ai e k\u00ebshilloi perandorin t\u00eb pendohej p\u00ebr gjakun e shenjtor\u00ebve dhe t\u00eb merrte pag\u00ebzimin e shenjt\u00eb. Zemra e perandorit u trondit p\u00ebr pak koh\u00eb, por prokonsulli Kalpurnius e ktheu at\u00eb n\u00eb mizorin\u00eb dhe gabimin e tij t\u00eb vjet\u00ebr. Ai ia dor\u00ebzoi Sh\u00ebn Valentinin Asteriusit, nj\u00eb zyrtari t\u00eb men\u00e7ur, p\u00ebr ta bindur me logjik\u00ebn e tij. N\u00eb sht\u00ebpin\u00eb e Asterios, shenjtori iu lut me zjarr Zotit drit\u00ebdh\u00ebn\u00ebs dhe iu shfaq nj\u00eb mund\u00ebsi e mrekullueshme. Asterios kishte nj\u00eb vajz\u00eb q\u00eb u verbua para se t\u00eb mbushte dy vje\u00e7. Valentini vuri dor\u00ebn mbi syt\u00eb e saj dhe thirri Krishtin si drit\u00ebn e v\u00ebrtet\u00eb t\u00eb bot\u00ebs. Vajz\u00ebs s\u00eb vog\u00ebl iu kthye menj\u00ebher\u00eb shikimi dhe familja ra n\u00eb k\u00ebmb\u00ebt e shenjtorit t\u00eb p\u00ebrlotur. Ata thyen idhujt e sht\u00ebpis\u00eb, liruan rob\u00ebrit e tyre, i fal\u00ebn borxhet dhe u p\u00ebrgatit\u00ebn p\u00ebr n\u00eb pishin\u00eb. Dyzet e gjasht\u00eb shpirtra u pag\u00ebzuan me Asterius dhe mor\u00ebn bekimin e peshkopit Callisto n\u00eb sht\u00ebpin\u00eb e tyre. Kur perandori m\u00ebsoi p\u00ebr konvertimin e Asterit, d\u00ebrgoi menj\u00ebher\u00eb ushtar\u00eb p\u00ebr t\u00eb arrestuar t\u00eb gjith\u00eb banor\u00ebt e sht\u00ebpis\u00eb. Marinus, Marta dhe f\u00ebmij\u00ebt e tyre u kap\u00ebn me ta, t\u00eb cil\u00ebt kishin qen\u00eb atje tridhjet\u00eb e dy dit\u00eb n\u00eb g\u00ebzim shpirt\u00ebror. Klaudi e ndau familjen persiane nga pjesa tjet\u00ebr dhe e d\u00ebrgoi Asteriun t\u00eb lidhur n\u00eb Ostia p\u00ebr gjykim. Aty gjykat\u00ebsi Gelasios i futi n\u00eb burg dhe pas nj\u00ebzet dit\u00ebsh i \u00e7oi para tij p\u00ebr t’i marr\u00eb n\u00eb pyetje. Asterius rr\u00ebfeu se ai adhuronte vet\u00ebm Per\u00ebndin\u00eb e v\u00ebrtet\u00eb t\u00eb qiellit dhe hodhi posht\u00eb idhujt e kot\u00eb. Gjykat\u00ebsi urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb ata t\u00eb vareshin, t\u00eb rriheshin me shufra dhe t\u00eb hidheshin te kafsh\u00ebt e egra t\u00eb aren\u00ebs. Por bishat nuk i shqet\u00ebsonin fare dhe q\u00ebndruan me p\u00ebrul\u00ebsi p\u00ebrpara t\u00eb shenjtit Asterius. M\u00eb pas ata ndez\u00ebn zjarre t\u00eb m\u00ebdha p\u00ebr t’i djegur, por zjarri u shua menj\u00ebher\u00eb dhe rreth tyre kishte ves\u00eb. Pastaj gjykat\u00ebsi i mundur urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb t\u00eb tjer\u00ebve t’u prisnin kokat dhe t\u00eb tjer\u00ebt t\u00eb vriteshin me gur\u00eb jasht\u00eb qytetit. K\u00ebshtu p\u00ebrfundoi martirizimi i lavdish\u00ebm i Asterit dhe i rrethimit t\u00eb tij. N\u00eb Rom\u00eb, perandori nxori n\u00eb gjyq Valentinin dhe kat\u00ebr besnik\u00ebt pers\u00eb t\u00eb familjes. Fillimisht ai urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb Valentinin ta rrihnin ashp\u00ebr me shufra dhe m\u00eb pas t’i prisnin kok\u00ebn. Pastaj e pyeti Marinusin se ku ishin ari dhe argjendi q\u00eb kishin sjell\u00eb nga Persia. D\u00ebshmori u p\u00ebrgjigj me p\u00ebrul\u00ebsi se ata ia dor\u00ebzuan Zotit, i cili i kishte dh\u00ebn\u00eb p\u00ebrkoh\u00ebsisht n\u00eb bot\u00eb. Ata rr\u00ebfyen me kok\u00eb t\u00eb lart\u00eb se per\u00ebndit\u00eb e pagan\u00ebve jan\u00eb demon\u00ebt, t\u00eb cil\u00ebt do t\u00eb shkat\u00ebrrojn\u00eb perandorin me ndjek\u00ebsit e tij. I nxor\u00ebn tremb\u00ebdhjet\u00eb stade nga qyteti, n\u00eb vendin e quajtur Nimfa Katavassi. Aty ia pren\u00eb kok\u00ebn Marinusit, Eudifaksit dhe Habakukut, nd\u00ebrsa n\u00ebna Marta u mbyt n\u00eb uj\u00ebrat e nj\u00eb lumi aty pran\u00eb. Nj\u00eb e krishter\u00eb e devotshme, Filikita, mori fshehurazi n\u00eb duar lipsanin e shenjt\u00eb t\u00eb martir\u00ebve t\u00eb prer\u00eb. Ai gjithashtu k\u00ebrkoi trupin e Mart\u00ebs n\u00eb rryma dhe e nxori at\u00eb me lot\u00eb mir\u00ebnjohjeje nga uji.
