Ai u p\u00ebrkul dhe puthi me lot plag\u00ebt e hapura t\u00eb t\u00eb krishter\u00ebve t\u00eb torturuar, sikur po p\u00ebrqafonte vet\u00eb kurorat e lavdis\u00eb s\u00eb tyre. Ai jetoi n\u00eb nj\u00eb epok\u00eb persekutimi t\u00eb r\u00ebnd\u00eb, kur rr\u00ebfimi i Krishtit u pagua me gjak dhe me martirizime t\u00eb tmerrshme. Gelasius nuk donte t\u00eb q\u00ebndronte larg v\u00ebllez\u00ebrve t\u00eb tij q\u00eb vuanin p\u00ebr besimin e tyre. Ndaj vendosi t\u00eb linte gjith\u00e7ka pas dhe t\u00eb b\u00ebhej mb\u00ebshtetje p\u00ebr d\u00ebshmor\u00ebt n\u00eb burgje dhe n\u00eb vendet e vuajtjes. Shfaqja e tij me veshjen e past\u00ebr t\u00eb bardh\u00eb zbuloi past\u00ebrtin\u00eb e shpirtit t\u00eb tij dhe gatishm\u00ebrin\u00eb e tij p\u00ebr sakrific\u00eb. Ai iu afrua me respekt t\u00eb krishter\u00ebve t\u00eb d\u00ebnuar, u k\u00ebrkoi d\u00ebshirat dhe i nxiti t\u00eb ngriheshin n\u00eb k\u00ebmb\u00eb dhe t\u00eb ishin t\u00eb guximsh\u00ebm. Me fjal\u00ebt e tij dhe me pranin\u00eb e tij ai mb\u00ebshteti ata q\u00eb rrezikoheshin t\u00eb p\u00ebrkuleshin nga dhimbja e sprovave. Pagan\u00ebt vun\u00eb re sjelljen e tij dhe menj\u00ebher\u00eb kuptuan se nj\u00eb i krishter\u00eb i gjall\u00eb ishte para tyre.
