Sh\u00ebn Joan Kreshmuesi u lind dhe u rrit n\u00eb Bizant gjat\u00eb mbret\u00ebrimit t\u00eb perandorit Justin II (565-578). Ishte gdhend\u00ebs dhe q\u00eb i ri tregoi nj\u00eb dashuri t\u00eb madhe p\u00ebr Per\u00ebndin\u00eb dhe p\u00ebr virtytin. Shum\u00eb her\u00eb kishte pasur zbulime profetike mbi p\u00ebrgjegj\u00ebsin\u00eb q\u00eb Per\u00ebndia po i p\u00ebrgatiste. Fama e virtytit t\u00eb tij arriti deri te patriarku Joan III Skolastiku. Ai e dor\u00ebzoi n\u00eb dhjak n\u00eb radh\u00ebt e klerit t\u00eb Konstandinopoj\u00ebs dhe e em\u00ebroi p\u00ebrgjegj\u00ebs p\u00ebr shp\u00ebrndarjen e l\u00ebmosh\u00ebs tek t\u00eb varfrit. Duke imituar Krishtin e m\u00ebshirsh\u00ebm, Joani shp\u00ebrndante pa llogaritur, pa b\u00ebr\u00eb dallime mes t\u00eb denj\u00ebve dhe t\u00eb padenj\u00ebve. T\u00eb gjith\u00eb ata q\u00eb afroheshin tek ai merrnin me boll\u00ebk. Kur patriarku Eftiki nd\u00ebrroi jet\u00eb, n\u00eb prill t\u00eb vitit 582, Joanin e detyruan t\u00eb pasonte n\u00eb fronin e tij.<\/p>\n

P\u00ebrgjat\u00eb 13 vjet\u00ebve si patriark, nuk e la asketizmin dhe ashp\u00ebrsin\u00eb e jet\u00ebs, madje i vun\u00eb edhe epitetin \u201cKreshmues\u201d, sepse ushtrohej shum\u00eb n\u00eb kreshm\u00eb. Tregohet se nj\u00eb her\u00eb q\u00ebndroi gjasht\u00eb muaj pa pir\u00eb uj\u00eb. Ushqehej vet\u00ebm me sallat\u00eb dhe pak pjep\u00ebr, rrush ose fiq. Nuk shtrihej p\u00ebr t\u00eb fjetur, por q\u00ebndronte i mbledhur kruspull. Dashuria e tij p\u00ebr t\u00eb varfrit ishte aq e madhe, saq\u00eb i shpenzoi t\u00eb gjitha fondet dhe i k\u00ebrkoi perandorit nj\u00eb hua p\u00ebr t\u00eb plot\u00ebsuar nevojat e bamir\u00ebsis\u00eb. Kur nd\u00ebrroi jet\u00eb, m\u00eb 595, perandori urdh\u00ebroi rimbursimin e kredis\u00eb q\u00eb i kishte marr\u00eb hua shenjtori, por patriarku nuk kishte gj\u00eb tjet\u00ebr n\u00eb qeli p\u00ebrve\u00e7 nj\u00eb palltoje t\u00eb vjet\u00ebr leshi dhe nj\u00eb mbulese t\u00eb holl\u00eb.<\/p>\n
