Gjat\u00eb nj\u00eb udh\u00ebtimi n\u00eb Konstandinopoj\u00eb mori titullin spatharios, por asgj\u00eb nuk mund t\u2019ia shuante etjen q\u00eb kishte p\u00ebr Per\u00ebndin\u00eb. Menj\u00ebher\u00eb pas vdekjes s\u00eb perandorit dhe t\u00eb vjehrrit, me lejen e perandoresh\u00ebs regjente Irena, pasi liroi skllev\u00ebrit dhe shp\u00ebrndau pasurin\u00eb e tij t\u00eb pamas\u00eb, e \u00e7oi t\u00eb shoqen n\u00eb nj\u00eb manastir t\u00eb arkipelagut t\u00eb Prinkip\u00ebve. T\u00eb shoqen nuk e takoi m\u00eb n\u00eb k\u00ebt\u00eb jet\u00eb, por i shkruante q\u00eb ta nxiste n\u00eb detyrat e jet\u00ebs murg\u00ebrore. I veshur me armatimin e luft\u00ebtar\u00ebve t\u00eb Zotit: me kreshm\u00eb t\u00eb matur, q\u00eb than afshet e mishit, me agripni, q\u00eb e b\u00ebn mendjen t\u00eb kthjell\u00ebt n\u00eb mes t\u00eb nat\u00ebs dhe me lot q\u00eb pastrojn\u00eb zemr\u00ebn, ishte p\u00ebr t\u00eb gjith\u00eb nj\u00eb ikon\u00eb e gjall\u00eb e bindjes s\u00eb p\u00ebrsosur asketike.<\/p>\n<p>P\u00ebrs\u00ebri iu mblodh\u00ebn nx\u00ebn\u00ebs p\u00ebrreth dhe u detyrua t\u00eb merrte drejtimin e tyre shpirt\u00ebror. Dinte si t\u00eb fliste me njer\u00ebzit e thjesht\u00eb, por edhe me njer\u00ebzit e arsimuar dhe u m\u00ebsonte me autoritet, por pa imponim, dogmat e shenjta dhe artin e zot\u00ebrimit t\u00eb pasioneve. P\u00ebrve\u00e7 detyrave dhe sh\u00ebrbimeve shpirt\u00ebrore si bari, shkroi nj\u00eb Kronografi t\u00eb gjer\u00eb, e cila mbetet ende nj\u00eb nga dokumentet m\u00eb t\u00eb mira p\u00ebr njohjen e historis\u00eb bizantine. Duke u b\u00ebr\u00eb nj\u00eb en\u00eb e zgjedhur e hirit, mir\u00ebpriste me dashuri cilindo q\u00eb vinte aty. Ai shkoi n\u00eb k\u00ebt\u00eb sinod i veshur thjesht si nj\u00eb njeri i varf\u00ebr, por i \u00e7uditi t\u00eb gjith\u00eb t\u00eb pranishmit me njohjen e thell\u00eb t\u00eb tradit\u00ebs s\u00eb Et\u00ebrve t\u00eb Shenjt\u00eb. Kur u kthye n\u00eb manastir, u s\u00ebmur r\u00ebnd\u00eb nga gur\u00ebt n\u00eb veshka, gj\u00eb q\u00eb e detyroi t\u00eb q\u00ebndronte vazhdimisht n\u00eb shtrat.<\/p>\n<p>Kur perandori jobesimtar Leoni V Armeni rinisi persekutimin kund\u00ebr ikonave t\u00eb shenjta, n\u00eb vitin 815, i paralajm\u00ebruar p\u00ebr reputacionin q\u00eb kishte fituar igumeni i Megalo Agros, e thirri Theofanin n\u00eb Konstandinopoj\u00eb, me pretekstin q\u00eb t\u00eb lutej n\u00eb prag t\u00eb fushat\u00ebs s\u00eb tij kund\u00ebr bullgar\u00ebve. Kjo e shtoi zem\u00ebrimin e tiranit, i cili urdh\u00ebroi q\u00eb shenjtori t\u00eb burgosej n\u00eb manastirin e Sergjit e Bakut, ku patriarku i ardhsh\u00ebm heretik, Leon Gramariani, u p\u00ebrpoq m\u00eb kot q\u00eb ta thyente. Shenjtori i hodhi posht\u00eb me sukses argumentet e tij.<\/p>\n<p>Pas k\u00ebsaj e mbyll\u00ebn p\u00ebr dy vjet n\u00eb nj\u00eb qeli t\u00eb err\u00ebt t\u00eb pallatit t\u00eb Elefterit. Pas k\u00ebtyre perandori, pasi pa q\u00ebndrueshm\u00ebrin\u00eb e tij n\u00eb besim, urdh\u00ebroi ta internonin n\u00eb ishullin e Samothrak\u00ebs. Shenjtori i mbijetoi vet\u00ebm tri jav\u00eb v\u00ebshtir\u00ebsive t\u00eb udh\u00ebtimit dhe dor\u00ebzoi shpirtin e tij n\u00eb duart e Per\u00ebndis\u00eb, m\u00eb 12 mars t\u00eb viti 817 (ose 818). N\u00eb vitin 822 nx\u00ebn\u00ebsit e tij shkuan q\u00eb t\u00eb merrnin lipsanin dhe ta \u00e7onin n\u00eb manastirin e Megalo Agros.
