He was proficient in the Albanian language.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He studied at the <strong>Patmiada Ecclesiastical School<\/strong>, as well as at the <strong>Faculty of Theology of the University of Athens<\/strong>. He also graduated from the <strong>Conservatory of Piraeus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He served as a preacher and lay teacher at the <strong>Holy Archdiocese of Athens<\/strong>. In 1967, he was ordained a deacon and priest by the Metropolitan of Thebes and Livadeia, Nikodimos, and served as a priest at the <strong>Cathedral Church<\/strong> and as <strong>Archpriestly Vicar of Thebes<\/strong> (1967-1972). He was also <strong>Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint Loukas<\/strong> in Livadeia (1968-1976) and of the <strong>Holy Monastery of Saint Seraphim<\/strong> in Domvous (1975-1996), a <strong>preacher (1972-1992)<\/strong>, and a <strong>spiritual father<\/strong> of this Metropolis (1962-1996).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He authored the three-volume collection <strong>\u201cThe Monk\u2019s Poems\u201d<\/strong> and the books <strong>\u201cHumility According to the Holy Scripture and the Church Fathers\u201d<\/strong>, while for his last book, <strong>\u201cThe Elder of Patmos, Hieromonk Amphilochios Makris\u201d<\/strong>, he was honored by the Academy of Athens.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On <strong>June 24, 1992<\/strong>, he was elected <strong>Metropolitan of Berat, Vlora, and Kanina<\/strong> by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
