Neomartiri GJERGJI i JANIN\u00cbS,
\ni cili mori palm\u00ebn e martirizimit m\u00eb 1838
\nSh\u00ebn Gjergji vinte nga nj\u00eb
\nfamilje e varf\u00ebr e Xurklit n\u00eb dioqe-
\nz\u00ebn e Grevenas\u00eb (Epir, 1810). Pas
\nvdekjes s\u00eb prind\u00ebrve, hyri n\u00eb sh\u00ebr-
\nbimin e nj\u00eb oficeri otoman si
\ngrazhdar. Ndon\u00ebse ishte i lidhur
\nme besimin e krishter\u00eb, sh\u00ebrb\u00ebto-
\nr\u00ebt e tjer\u00eb turq u m\u00ebsuan ta qua-
\nnin me nj\u00eb em\u00ebr mysliman: Jaur
\nHasan. Pas tet\u00eb vjet\u00ebsh, nd\u00ebrsa po
\np\u00ebrgatitej p\u00ebr fejes\u00eb me nj\u00eb vajz\u00eb
\nt\u00eb varf\u00ebr t\u00eb krishter\u00eb me emrin
\nElena, nj\u00eb turk u ankua te gjykat\u00ebsi
\nvendor (kadiu), duke th\u00ebn\u00eb se
\nHasani ishte mysliman dhe donte
\nt\u00eb martohej me nj\u00eb t\u00eb krishter\u00eb.
\nPas shum\u00eb thashethemesh, Gjergji,
\ni cili ishte i p\u00ebrmbajtur dhe fjal\u00eb-
\npak, arriti t\u00eb tregonte se ishte lindur
\ni krishter\u00eb dhe k\u00ebshtu do t\u00eb mbetej
\np\u00ebrjet\u00eb. U martua e hyri n\u00eb sh\u00ebr-
\nbim t\u00eb nj\u00eb otomani me titull n\u00eb qy-
\ntetin e Filiatit. Erdhi n\u00eb Janin\u00eb p\u00ebr
\nnj\u00eb \u00e7\u00ebshtje, dit\u00ebn kur e shoqja i li-
\nndi djal\u00eb (12 janar 1838), por p\u00ebr-
\ns\u00ebri nuk mbeti i qet\u00eb nga akuzuesi
\ni tij i par\u00eb, prandaj nj\u00eb turm\u00eb nje-
\nr\u00ebzish u mblodh\u00ebn rreth tij. Gjer-
\ngjin e nxor\u00ebn para gjykat\u00ebsit dhe
\nrr\u00ebfeu i pal\u00ebkundur se gjithnj\u00eb
\nkishte qen\u00eb i krishter\u00eb dhe kurr\u00eb
\nnuk e kishte mohuar besimin e
\net\u00ebrve. E fut\u00ebn n\u00eb burg, dhe atje u
\nnxit nga t\u00eb krishter\u00eb t\u00eb tjer\u00eb ta \u00e7onin
\nbetej\u00ebn deri n\u00eb p\u00ebrsosm\u00ebrin\u00eb e
\nmartirizimit. Nj\u00eb qenie e ndritshme
\niu shfaq, e leht\u00ebsoi nga v\u00ebshtir\u00ebsit\u00eb
\nq\u00eb e r\u00ebndonin dhe i dha guxim mbi-
\nnjer\u00ebzor, k\u00ebshtu, me g\u00ebzim t\u00eb pa-
\np\u00ebrshkruesh\u00ebm, n\u00eb m\u00ebngjesin e
\n17 janarit, ai priti vendimin e
\nvdekjes. Shkoi duke vrapuar pas
\nxhelat\u00ebve deri n\u00eb vendin e ekze-
\nkutimit, sikurse dreri i etur drejt
\nburimit t\u00eb ujit t\u00eb gjall\u00eb (Ps. 41:1).
\nE var\u00ebn dhe trupi i tij mbeti
\nk\u00ebshtu p\u00ebr tri dit\u00eb. Prej tij rrodhi
\narom\u00eb er\u00ebmir\u00eb e rojat arrit\u00ebn t\u00eb
\nshihnin vet\u00eb drit\u00ebn qiellore ta
\nrrethonte. P\u00ebrfundimisht, lipsani
\ni tij u dor\u00ebzua te mitropoliti Joakim,
\ni cili i mblodhi t\u00eb gjith\u00eb t\u00eb krishte-
\nr\u00ebt e Janin\u00ebs p\u00ebr t\u00eb celebruar me
\nsolemnitet funeralin e neomartirit
\nt\u00eb Krishtit. Shum\u00eb mrekulli ndo-
\ndh\u00ebn gjat\u00eb ceremonis\u00eb dhe vazh-
\ndojn\u00eb t\u00eb kryhen n\u00ebp\u00ebrmjet lipsa-
