\nU lind rreth vitit 820 n\u00eb Konstandinopoj\u00eb,
\nnga nj\u00eb familje e ngritur dhe e martirizuar
\nnga kund\u00ebrshtar\u00ebt e ikonave. I ati ishte
\nrr\u00ebfyesi Sh\u00ebn Sergi (13 maj), i cili ishte v\u00ebllai
\ni Patrikut t\u00eb Konstandinopoj\u00ebs, Sh\u00ebn Tarasit
\n(25 shkurt).
\nI pajisur me aft\u00ebsi natyrore t\u00eb pa-
\narritshme, shum\u00eb shpejt Foti u b\u00eb filozof,
\npoet, orator, mjek, matimaticien. Ai formoi
\nnj\u00eb bibliotek\u00eb private t\u00eb rrall\u00eb. U ngjit n\u00eb
\npostet m\u00eb t\u00eb larta politike, por d\u00ebshironte
\njet\u00ebn asketike.
\nPas shkarkimit antikanonik (sipas t\u00eb
\ntjer\u00ebve ishte dor\u00ebheqje) t\u00eb Patrikut, Sh\u00ebn
\nIgnatit (23 tetor), Foti, pas presioneve t\u00eb
\npaimagjinueshme nga pallatet mbret\u00ebrore,
\nt\u00ebrhiqet. P\u00ebr pes\u00eb dit\u00eb kalon t\u00eb gjitha shkall\u00ebt
\ne hierarkis\u00eb kishtare dhe n\u00eb Krishtilindjet e
\nvitit 858 dor\u00ebzohet Patrik i Konstandino-
\npoj\u00ebs. K\u00ebtej e tutje jeta e tij b\u00ebhet tejet e tra-
\nzuar dhe shkruan n\u00eb m\u00ebnyr\u00eb t\u00eb pashlyeshme
\nhistorin\u00eb: d\u00ebnohet nga sinodi i Rom\u00ebs (v. 863),
\nq\u00eb nd\u00ebrhyn n\u00eb \u00e7\u00ebshtjet e brendshme t\u00eb Li-
\nndjes. P\u00ebrs\u00ebri gjat\u00eb vitit 867 ai d\u00ebnon n\u00eb
\nsinod per\u00ebndimor\u00ebt p\u00ebr bastardimet e
\ndogmave (fillimi i Skizm\u00ebs s\u00eb Katolik\u00ebve). N\u00eb
\nt\u00eb nj\u00ebjtin vit, pasojn\u00eb internimi i tij nga pe-
\nrandori i ri Vasil I (v. 867-886) dhe rivendosja
\ne Ignatit, (ata n\u00eb m\u00ebnyr\u00eb mall\u00ebngjyese i
\nk\u00ebrkojn\u00eb falje nj\u00ebri-tjetrit n\u00eb vitin 876). Pas
\nvdekjes s\u00eb k\u00ebtij t\u00eb fundit (v. 878), ai rib\u00ebhet
\nPatrik dhe reabilitohet nga Sinodi mbar\u00eb-
\nkristian (v. 879-880). Por, p\u00ebrs\u00ebri internohet
\nnga pallati mbret\u00ebror n\u00eb nj\u00eb manastir (v.
\n886), ku mbyllet jeta e tij dinamike mbi tok\u00eb
\n(6 shkurt 891).
\nDuhet shtuar, se n\u00eb kuadrin e p\u00ebrpjekjes
\ns\u00eb tij t\u00eb pasur hierapostolike, ai ndikoi n\u00eb
\ncivilizimin e sllav\u00ebve dhe n\u00eb ve\u00e7anti t\u00eb bullga-
