Ne te njejten dite ky universitet ua akordoi kete titull kancelarit gjerman Helmut Kohl, si dhe dy shkenc\u00ebtareve nga Britania e Madhe dhe Hollanda. Patrikut Ekumenik iu dha ky titull per kontributin e tij ne levizjen ekumenike dhe ne ndertimin e Europes.<\/p>\n<p>Kjo dite u hap me nje meshe te zhvilluar ne Kolegjialin Shen Petri, nen drejtimin e kardinalit Godfrid Daniels, arqipiskop i Malinesit dhe ne prezence te Patrikut Ekumenik Vartholomeu I, i cili shoqerohej nga mitropoliti Joakim i Kalcedonise, mitropoliti Qiril i Goritnit (Krete) dhe nga episkopet e Frances dhe Belgjikes, Jeremia dhe Pandeleimoni.<\/p>\n<p>Ne predikimin qe mbajti Patriku Ekumenik thekoi qe ne fillim se prej shume kohesh i ishte kushtuar studimit te ceshtjes se marredhenieve midis fese dhe dijes. &#8220;Ne mendojme qe eshte e rendesishme per unitetin e Europes qe te kapercehesin polemikat virulente ndermjet &#8216;besimtareve&#8217; dhe &#8216;ateisteve&#8217;, polemika qe jane ushqyer prej opozicioneve te vjetra midis &#8216;fese&#8217; dhe &#8216;shkences&#8217;, qe rrjedhin nga nje kuptim i shtrember\u00ebt, si nga njera ashtu edhe nga tjetra pale&#8221; &#8211; theksoi vecanerisht patriku. Ne nje Europe qe &#8220;kerkon akoma shpirtin e saj&#8221; eshte e rendesishme qe te mobilizohen resurset intelektuale te shkenc\u00ebtareve, esenca politike e udheheqesve dhe &#8220;sherbimi shpirteror i Kishes&#8221;, per te zhvilluar &#8220;dinamiken&#8221; europiane. Patriku e ftoi Perendimin te mendoje eksperiencen e Bizantit, i cili perben sintezen e pare ndermjet kristianizmit dhe civilizimit greko-romak. Ai shprehu, gjithashtu, angazhimin e tij ne favor te bashkimit te Kishave, gje qe i pergjigjet urdh\u00ebreses se Krishtit &#8220;te gjithe te jene nje&#8221; dhe, duke perfunduar, theksoi se pa vendosjen e &#8220;relatave te harmonishme&#8221; midis Kishave, uniteti i popujve te Europes do te mbetet &#8220;me te vertete i pasigurte&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Ne fund, Profesori J.
