Sh\u00ebn Korneli ishte bashk\u00ebkohas i Krishtit dhe i Apostujve. Ai jetonte n\u00eb Qesari dhe ishte centurion (kryeqind\u00ebsh) i kohortes q\u00eb quhej Italika. Nj\u00eb tradita e lasht\u00eb e Panonis\u00eb (krahin\u00eb e Iliris\u00eb), e mb\u00ebshtetur edhe nga shum\u00eb autor\u00eb t\u00eb lasht\u00eb, thot\u00eb q\u00eb ai ishte nga nj\u00eb fis ilir nga qyteti Sishia i Panonis\u00eb. Sh\u00ebn Korneli ishte pagani i par\u00eb i thirrur n\u00eb bes\u00ebn e Krishtit dhe pagani i par\u00eb i pag\u00ebzuar. I takoi nj\u00eb biri t\u00eb Iliris\u00eb t\u00eb ishte i par\u00ebthirruri nga kombet. K\u00ebshtu q\u00eb ne duhet t\u00eb jemi krenar q\u00eb nj\u00eb nga st\u00ebrgjysh\u00ebrit tan\u00eb u thirr i pari nga t\u00ebr\u00eb kombet.<\/p>\n

Ndon\u00ebse pagan ai dallohej p\u00ebr sjelljen e tij t\u00eb mir\u00eb, p\u00ebr frik\u00ebn ndaj Per\u00ebndis\u00eb dhe p\u00ebr zem\u00ebrmir\u00ebsin\u00eb e tij. Nj\u00eb dit\u00eb kur Sh\u00ebn Pietri po lutej n\u00eb qytetin e Jopes (Vepr. kap. 10), ai pati nj\u00eb vizion, t\u00eb cilin fillimisht nuk e kuptoi. Por kur njer\u00ebzit q\u00eb kish d\u00ebrguar Korneli (sipas nj\u00eb vizioni q\u00eb kish patur edhe ai nga nj\u00eb engj\u00ebll), erdh\u00ebn dhe e k\u00ebrkuan Pietrin, at\u00ebher\u00eb Apostulli e kuptoi q\u00eb “Per\u00ebndia nuk mban an\u00eb njeriu, por n\u00eb \u00e7do komb ai q\u00eb ka frik\u00eb prej atij dhe b\u00ebn drejt\u00ebsi, \u00ebsht\u00eb i pritur tek Ai” (Vepr. 10:34). Dhe nd\u00ebrsa Sh\u00ebn Pietri po i lajm\u00ebronte Krishtin e ngjallur Kornelit dhe t\u00ebr\u00eb sht\u00ebpis\u00eb s\u00eb tij, Fryma e Shenjt\u00eb zbriti mbi Kornelin dhe sht\u00ebpin\u00eb e tij, judenjt\u00eb mbet\u00ebn t\u00eb habitur, se si Fryma e Shenjt\u00eb mund t\u00eb vinte edhe tek kombet. K\u00ebshtu q\u00eb Sh\u00ebn Pietri, duke par\u00eb q\u00eb Fryma e Shenjt\u00eb zbriti tek Korneli, nuk hezitoi ta pag\u00ebzonte, ndon\u00ebse shum\u00eb judenj u habit\u00ebn p\u00ebr k\u00ebt\u00eb.<\/p>\n

Qysh nga ajo koh\u00eb, Sh\u00ebn Korneli q\u00ebndroi me apostujt. Tradita thot\u00eb q\u00eb ai shoq\u00ebroi shum\u00eb nga apostujt n\u00eb misionet e tyre ungjill\u00ebzuese n\u00eb Iliri dhe n\u00eb vende t\u00eb tjera. Sh\u00ebn Pietri e dor\u00ebzoi at\u00eb episkop dhe e d\u00ebrgoi n\u00eb qytetin pagan Skepsi, ku Korneli i shenjt\u00eb vuajti shum\u00eb posht\u00ebrime p\u00ebr Krishtin. Por me fuqin\u00eb e Per\u00ebndis\u00eb ai shkat\u00ebrroi tempullin e Apollonit dhe pag\u00ebzoi princin e qytetin, Dhimitrin, si dhe 277 pagan\u00eb t\u00eb tjer\u00eb.<\/p>\n

I paralajm\u00ebruar nga Per\u00ebndia p\u00ebr dit\u00ebn e vdekjes s\u00eb tij, ai i mblodhi t\u00ebr\u00eb t\u00eb krishter\u00ebt, ju dha k\u00ebshillat e fundit, ju lut Zotit dhe paq\u00ebsisht shkoi tek Zoti i tij n\u00eb nj\u00eb mosh\u00eb shum\u00eb t\u00eb kaluar. Mbas shum\u00eb koh\u00ebsh varri i tij u harrua, por shenjti iu shfaq Silvanit peshkopit t\u00eb Troas dhe i tregoi vendin e varrit t\u00eb tij, si dhe e urdh\u00ebroi t\u00eb nd\u00ebrtonte nj\u00eb kishe atje. Shum\u00eb mrekulli u kryen nga lipsanet e tij.<\/p>\n
