    Christmas was celebrated with many different activities in the city of Korca, which is known for its long history of ancient Orthodox Tradition. The Orthodox Diocese Youth Festival marked the beginning of the Christmas celebration in Korca. This festival brought together many young people from the surrounding areas of the diocese, including the towns of Erseka, Pogradec, Prespa and Devolli. Much joy was brought through the singing and dancing of this festive activity which marked the beginning of the city\u2019s Christmas celebration.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
    On the evening of December 23, the streets were crowded with people of all ages who were celebrating the \u201cKolendrat\u201d and spreading the good news: \u201cIn the holy city, the blessed baby was born.\u201d All people were given the opportunity to be a part of the cherubic choir, spreading the news of the miraculous birth of the world\u2019s Savior.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
    On December 25, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in all the churches in the city of Korca, with Metropolitan John of Korca presiding over the Divine Liturgy conducted in the city\u2019s cathedral.  In his sermon the Metropolitan called upon the faithful to have hope and courage because the Light defeated the darkness, for the baby of Bethlehem was born for all of us in order to bring joy to the world.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
   The festive atmosphere of Christmas continued with visits to the residence of Metropolitan John of Korca, where hundreds of believers, government officials and representatives from other religions wished him a Merry Christmas. All of the guests gave a message of love and peace for the city of Korca.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

    The next day a traditional lunch was prepared for the needy people of the city. This lunch was largely supported by the \u201cAlbanian Women\u201d Organization. As part of his message during the luncheon, Metropolitan John of Korca stressed that the people present were in need of more dignity and love from our society.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

    On December 27, gifts were given to the best students of the elementary schools in the city of Korca, as an incentive to help them continue their excellent efforts throughout the duration of the school year.  On this day, Metropolitan John emphasized that more than ever Albania needs educated and devoted people who will continue the difficult journey for the prosperity of this country.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/td>\n

    On December 28, the annual event of presenting gifts to children in need was carried out in collaboration with the \u201cAlbanian Women\u2019s\u201d Organization.  During this event, Metropolitan John appealed to everyone to understand how important it is to be near these children and give them the opportunity to have some joy on this wonderful day of our Lord\u2019s birth.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
