On Sunday, June 24, on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the election of Archbishop Anastasios at the head of our Church, a blessing of water (agiasmos) service was carried out at the Virgin Mary Family of Love which is a center for the elderly. Its purpose is to provide actual opportunities for the elderly with different financial needs offering specialized care to them either for free or at reduced prices.
The agiasmos service was conducted by Metropolitan Nathanail of Amantia, in the presence of Archbishop Anastasios and other members of the Holy Synod who participated in the Divine Liturgy. Also the family members of the residents were present as well as donors and other guests. Two of the ladies who are housed there expressed their thanks for the opening of such a center with modern facilities.
The Virgin Mary Family of Love Center started to function on 19 March 2018 and has currently housed 6 ladies, while the capacity is for 18 people.
The opening of centers for the elderly is an early wish and intention of Archbishop Anastasios. With the persistence and the possibilities created by him, this became a reality and was blessed on the symbolic day of the canonical rebuilding of our Church from the ruins.
