On June 8, through the Blessing of Water Service, the ceremony of the inauguration of Platon High School in Korça took place. This school is part of our Church’s educational system. The service was celebrated by the Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and All Albania, His Beatitude Anastasios, who was assisted by the Metropolitan of Korça, His Eminence Joan and the Metropolitan of Amantia, His Eminence Nathanail.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Korça, the Prefect and the President of the District, the former Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Niko Peleshi, the Rector of Fan Noli University, and other distinguished personalities of the city, parents and believers.
After the blessing, Archbishop Anastasios addressed the audience, talking about the need for an elite education and the importance of knowledge to our country. The archbishop encouraged students to return back to their homeland no matter where they decide to pursue their studies, in order to make their knowledge available to their people and to their country.
Later, together with the participating personalities, Archbishop Anastasios visited the school facilities and its modern venues where they attended a classical music concert.
Platon High School is in an elite school, not only due to its infrastructure settings, but mainly due to its elite teaching staff. It is an elite school also thanks to the efforts and paternal care of Archbishop Anastasios, who not only enabled its building and equipment but, as the president of the Spirit of Love Foundation, also continues to support this school both spiritually and financially, as he does with dozens of other educational, cultural and social institutions of our Church. Because, it is widely known that the foundation of a nation is education; and a qualitative education is an important factor for the development of the country, its prosperity and progress. And His Beatitude Anastasios as well as the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania have been fundamentally contributing to our education for over twenty-five years.
