International Conference on Current Developments and New Perspectives in Applied Sciences and Economics Held in Tirana
On March 17, 2017 the International Conference on Current Developments and New Perspectives in Applied Sciences and Economy was organized by Logos University College of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania, in cooperation with Zoja e Këshillit të Mirë Catholic University, the Faculty of Medicine in Tirana, Piraeus University of Greece, the Agricultural University of Tirana, University of Calabria in Italy, as well as with the Albanian Association of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine and the American Association for Clinical Pathologies in Europe and in Greece. The event was held in the Cultural Center Hall of the Resurrection of Christ Cathedral in Tirana.
The conference opened with a plenary session in which the most outstanding authorities of the member institutions held their greeting words. Present in the conference were His Beatitude and Prof. Dr. Anastas, Archbishop of Tirana, Durres and All Albania who is also the President of Logos Foundation; Prof. Dr. Xhezair Teliti, the Rector of Logos University College; Prof. Bruno Giardina, the Rector of Zoja e Këshillit të Mirë Catholic University; Prof. Dr. Anila Bulo, the Head of the Albanian Association of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine. In attendance were also the academic staff and students of the Logos University and of the associate universities, as well as personalities and honorary professors who have contributed to Logos University, specialists of the respective fields and other guests.
The conference was held in two parallel sessions, in which a total of 25 papers were presented: more specifically, the Medical Session on The Present and Future of Laboratory Medicine and the Economy session on the Scientific Thought in the Economic Development and the respective Future Challenges.
Additional value to the conferences added the references held by honorable professors outside Albania, such as Prof. Ettore Capoluongo, Prof. Andrea Urbani, Prof. Carlo de Giuli Morghen, Prof. Rubino Franco Ernesto, Prof. Asc. Filotheos Ntalianis, Prof. Asc. Jostina Dhimitri, Dionysis Vourtsis, Pietro Iaquinta, Miracco Rosetta, Tonia Tassone, Eleni Didaskalou, Francesco Favia, Antonella Biscione and Thais Garcia – Pereiro, who are outstanding personalities of the field in the Medicine and Economics domains.
The conference, which also had 37 poster presentations, marked a special event not only in the scientific dimension characterizing an international conference but it offered an extra opportunity for the qualitative incorporation of scientific research in the current academic curriculum and staff of Logos University College. The conference marked a special event for the university students who aim to become future researchers.
The purpose of this conference was not only to enable the presentation of new findings in the research field, but also to encourage the exchange of opinions, perspectives and novel experiences between the experts in the fields of medicine and economics.
The common contribution for the organization of the conference served as a successful start of collaboration in the framework of improving the teaching and research process, which is an important issue for our society and the future of our country.
