    From November 20 to 22, in Vienna, Austria the 9th World Assembly of Religions for Peace is taking place. In this Assembly 600 religious leaders, representing all historic faith traditions from every region of the world, are participating to address rising hostility toward the “other” worldwide.Religions for Peace is the largest religious organization in the world, with participation from all the major religious communities and whose goals are promoting and achieving peace. The Assembly delegates include Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Sikh, Shinto, Baha’i, Jain, Zoroastrian, etc. religious leaders.
 
    On the last day of the Assembly, Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania, His Beatitude Anastasios was elected Honorary President of this world body.
 
    This is a special honor for Archbishop Anastasios who is a prominent activist for peace and interfaith understanding in the international arena and in our country. This is an election that also honors the role of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania, which two decades ago began its wonderful road to recovery from ruins all across our country.
 
    On the last day of the Assembly all the participants also approved the “Vienna Declaration” – a common attitude and call for peace in the world and understanding among different faiths. On this day, the Assembly welcomed the Patriarch of Constantinople, His Holiness Bartholomew
