Following the tradition of the Orthodox Church to commemorate the blessed event of liberation from 500 years of occupation and the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, today, November 28th, a festive Archierarchical Divine Liturgy was held in the “Resurrection of Christ” Cathedral of Tirana.  This Liturgy was co-celebrated by the Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania Anastasios and the members of the Holy Synod.

Addressing the believers, Archbishop Anastasios offered his wishes for this blessed historical event of the Albanian people. He also recalled that during the last century the Church had had a fierce period of persecution, and referred to the Gospel of the day while summarizing the challenges of the future for our people. We will need more faith, hope and love. He urged the Orthodox faithful to grow in these three virtues in order to continue to give their inherent and undividable contribution to the Albanian society.

After the Liturgy, a Doxology for the Flag was made. Later, in the cultural center of the Cathedral there was a festive concert on the occasion of the 100th anniversary by spiritual and educational groups of our Church.
