The “Protagonists” Albanian-American School during more than 10 years of activity has been increasing their teaching level and educational materials every year, and also has proved quite innovative. Such is also true of the academic year that has just begun. Apart from improving the material base, to help its 300 students, it also marked the opening of the first year of the high school, and the inclusion of the preschool children within the structure of the school. In May of this year the license for the high school was taken from the Ministry of Education. Its opening was delayed one year, just to be in compliance with all the documentation and other required conditions. For the first time the 10th grade was opened, and as the vice director, Mrs. TatjanaDodbiba, stated, the number of studentsis satisfactory. She emphasized the careful selection of the staff, which is comprised of well-known teachers with extensive experience in public high schools, as well as some young people who have just graduated with excellent results and have completed their postgraduate studies.
This school offers English as the first foreign language choice, and as a second language, the choice of either Greek or German. The school is equipped with the necessary laboratories: that of chemistry, physics and biology. Special computer rooms are being prepared. Also, each student has a personal locker with a lock. The teachers have their lounge room etc.
A nice innovation which is expected to expand the teaching in the coming years is the inclusion of the preschool children within the “Protagonists” school, completingthe cycle of education for all ages. This has been done in conjunction with new programs from the Ministry of Education. The preschool is located on the first floor of the school building, in a nice class that is outfitted with all the necessary didactic tools, and experienced teachers are responsible for this group.
In this group is implementing a completely new program, which aims for the students that before they start the elementary school, to know the numbers up to 10, to recognize the letters, to write and to read. Also, through the toys is taught the English alphabet, a subjects that will be tough in the first grade, etc..Under the direction of MASH, have also changed the programs of the smaller ages.
