The opening ceremony of the new academic year 2010-2011 was held on the premises of “LOGOS” University on October 25 2010, and was attended by administrators, pedagogues and students. The dedication speech at the ceremony was given by the Rector of the University, Professor. Dr. Ilia Telo.
The approval of the new “LOGOS” University by decision of the Council of Ministers in July of this year is good news for all our Orthodox community and all Albanians. Actually, this university is a new gift of His Beatitude, Archbishop Anastasios, who is known for his help and unsparing work in rebuilding, almost from nothing, the whole structure of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania, which had completely collapsed under the Communist regime.
The academic staff, led by the very honorable Professor Dr. Ilia Telo, is well prepared, and they will direct and conduct the instruction, respecting the laws of higher education of the Republic of Albania and the process of Bologna, and graduate capable students and good professionals for the labor market not only of Albania, but also the European community.
In point of fact, this is not a new University. The way was opened by the two-year Professional Institute, “The Spirit of Love”, which was established in the year 2000. The new “LOGOS” University is the successor of its 10-years of experience. It has a beautiful functional building, an experienced academic staff, composed of professors and doctors of sciences and lecturers with scientific masters and degrees gained inside and outside Albania, but it also has modern laboratories, and a library which is being enriched with contemporary literature etc.
“LOGOS” University is a non-profit university and fees to enter the university are among the lowest and, therefore, most competitive. This fact is confirmed by the high participation of many young students who preferred it.
This first year “LOGOS” University has 230 students enrolled and two branch of learning, which are: Applied Science and Economics, with programs in full compliance with the Bologna process, such as: Finance Accounting, Business Management, Tourism Management, Applied Informatics, etc
Very soon, in the coming academic years, “LOGOS” University and will open new branches and programs.
