On the evening of December 23, the streets were crowded with people of all ages who were celebrating the “Kolendrat” and spreading the good news: “In the holy city, the blessed baby was born.” All people were given the opportunity to be a part of the cherubic choir, spreading the news of the miraculous birth of the world’s Savior.

On December 25, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in all the churches in the city of Korca, with Metropolitan John of Korca presiding over the Divine Liturgy conducted in the city’s cathedral.  In his sermon the Metropolitan called upon the faithful to have hope and courage because the Light defeated the darkness, for the baby of Bethlehem was born for all of us in order to bring joy to the world.

The festive atmosphere of Christmas continued with visits to the residence of Metropolitan John of Korca, where hundreds of believers, government officials and representatives from other religions wished him a Merry Christmas. All of the guests gave a message of love and peace for the city of Korca.

The next day a traditional lunch was prepared for the needy people of the city. This lunch was largely supported by the “Albanian Women” Organization.
