The summer day camps are among those activities that children from different areas of Albania wait for with great anticipation. During this summer, as well, the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania continues to develop children’s day camps. The Central Children’s Office, the Catechism Office and the Christian Education Department of the “Resurrection of Christ” Theological Academy, make possible the realization of these camps, in collaboration with numerous dioceses, clergy, catechists and Orthodox youth.

The day camp program allows children to take part for 4 to 5 hours a day. The Central Children’s Office held day’s camps in Thavor Center, in Shkoza, in Bathore and at the Church “Annunciation of Theotokos” in Tirana. 120 children participated in these camps.

The theme of the summer day camps conducted by their office was the Divine Liturgy. The purpose of these camps was for children to have a greater understanding and experience of all the parts of the Divine Liturgy. The program of the camps also contained games, songs and art and crafts. During the time for songs, children had the opportunity to learn and to chant all the parts that are sung by the choir and the community during the Divine Liturgy.

The last day of the camp ended with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy in the places where the camps were held. During this liturgy children had opportunity chance to see concretely what they had learned during the days of the camp and to chant the hymns of the Divine Liturgy.

The summer day camps for children continue in different areas of the country and the opportunity is given to the children to learn more about God, to create new friendships, to have fun and spend their summer vacation days in a valuable way.
